Demjackets.....

Have to agree with Kyle on this one...the examples suggested really don't work. For example, Ann Arbor is all about Michigan. It may only be 40+ miles to Detroit but there really is no other game in town...the Lions are an afterthough compared to UofM. For another, how is Rutgers in an NFL city? Does all of NJ count as the Jets hometown or something? I think the definition of "in NFL cities" used is faulty.

That's what i meant. I know ATL is a "front-running" sports city. GT is all this city has right know, and for the true GT fan- thats all it should be. I cannot believe we struggle to sell out our home games consistantly

Ha...Atlanta is overwhelmingly UGA territory, at least 2:1. When's the last time you went into a Walmart, even 2 miles from Campus and seen more Tech stuff than UGA stuff (if any Tech at all)?

We have more seats in our stadium than living alumni in the State of Georgia. We can't afford to be medicore if we want to attract "transplants".

Maryland is not a good example either. They are not located in Washington, D.C., they are located in a suburb, College Park, which is ten miles from downtown D.C. and only 30 miles from Baltimore. They get to draw from two major cities and still only recently sold out.

To really compare to Tech, you have to look at Miami, Houston, SMU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Cincinnatti, Boston College (sort of), Temple (sort of), Minnesota, UCLA/USC, Washington, SDSU and California (sort of).

The problem w/ our small fan base has less to do with Atlanta and more to do with the over abundance of UGA fans in the state of UGA, most of which never attended the school.

One more thing, Cox is I dont think listed as questionable but it will be a game time thing, he's dinged up as well which is why Quincy played so much. Players still are in good spirits as I talked to DRich this morning, they seem motivated to prove themselves now, he said the team still has high hopes for winning out. A team only meeting will be called either Wed or Thurs to get everyone on the same page for the Clemson game.

Most young alumni leave Atlanta as well. We get quite a few retiree's, which is why I get yelled at for screaming 'God damn it' during basketball games.

Best news I've heard this week! It's Clemson or bust. We've GOT to put up a good showing and AT LEAST give them a great fight.

As always, thanks for the info.

I have to say when this happens its a sign of a disaster about to happen IMO. You don't want this to happen as it typically means they are grasping for straws...last ditch rally call. Then...you lose to clemson then what? you have nothing to lean on anymore. Another team meeting won't work. The only thing that will work is preparation and toughness.

I know Joe Fan reads it as..."oh great news" but really the reality is this isn't a good sign at all IMO...

just saying..most players will tell you in hindsight it means the writing was on the wall more than it was a rallying call that worked...

Not entirely. This team as a whole believes they have a lot left to prove and they are not saying this is the last straw, they are concentrating on Clemson, its a team meeting of game plans and assignments, the seniors want everyone on the right track so we stop the stupid errors. No one is giving up or throwing in the towel, they are trying to get up and stop the little things that are hurting them the best way they know how, keep goin over stuff till it sticks.

ok...I thought it was a Rah, Rah team meeting...what you are describing is different....

DOH!! If ONLY the coaches knew this!!! How can we get this vital info to them in time!!??

:pat:

not sure if you are being sarcastic....but based on the way the team has been prepared I would say it may be worth an email:laugher::laugher:

I would like to see the same results we had in 1989 when the players called their own team meeting and excluded the coaches. We didn't lose again until 1991.

Its not false but the coaches are gonna wait and see. Tashard doesn't want to let his teammates down like he sort of feels not playing but last week he said he was ready and definitely wasn't. He is going to have to go full speed Wednesday and Thursday then we will definitely know. He said he didn't tweak it but he was favoring it during halftime. Its hard to see him really being 100 percent but it would be great.

Last year we had an injured starter play in the Clemson game. The result wasn't very good. If TC isn't 100% tomorrow, I hope the coaches don't waste 1st team practice time on him on Thursday.

I admire the heart, but if your not 100%, your not 100%.

I agree, he shouldn't of been on the field last week for sure.

Just put a consistent, winning team in Boddy Dodd stadium and shut the he!! up. Our problems will be solved.

Not just for that game...it seemed to have affected his performance the entire rest of the season. Playing injured in football can be a very, very bad thing.
