Depth Chart and Game Notes released

It states Earls is doubtful to play (hammy). I guess the score at halftime will determine his PT.

a LB at the return spot is very intriguing to me. does he have an explosive first few steps, does he have good top end, or just great hands? i am wondering the appeal.

thanks

Hasn't he spent more of his football playing career (including HS) as a DB? Isn't the move to LB relatively new?

That is weird that Clark and Earls are returning kicks when at today;s press conf. PJ mentions both Clark and Dwyer are going to return kicks.

Effin' A. The diagram of the offense on page 13 has the team lined up illegally. Six men on the line. 5 yards, replay the down. Lets hope we don't see a lot of this fail on the field.

Somebody call CPJ and let him know....this would be a terrible way to start the game.

I noticed a lot of typos/misprints/bad diagrams/etc in the game notes. It's not a big deal, but I think they would be able to have someone proof it before it goes out to the public, especially the one before the first game. Reflects badly on the Institute I'd say.

He played in our secondary.

He has PLENTY of speed.

I have watched him on our kick cver teams and he most always is the first one to the ball, but missed a lot of tackles. Fun to watch and I agree, PLENTY of speed.

Hopefully this will be a "Tony Hollings" like experiment.
Well.....minus the flunking out thing.

He was ALWAYS the first guy down the field on kickoff coverage. He didn't really make a lot of the tackles, but did force the returner to make a decision so he could get clobbered by Michael Johnson

How on earth were we 3rd in the ACC in total offense last year?

Other funny anomolies from last year's stats - 1st in the nation in sacks, 4th in the nation in TFLs, yet 5th in the ACC in scoring defense.

I guess these were stats we didn't care about in the middle of all the staff turmoil. Interesting stuff though.

A terrible ND, Samford, and Army helped the offensive stat line. Also, not everyone in the ACC played Duke.

The depth chart at ramblinwreck.com that was updated yesterday for the JS game shows Clark and Dwyer returning kickoffs...Melton is the third option. Melton is the punt returner with Roddy Jones backing him up.
Clark was a great kick returner in high school...a DB/LB hybrid with great straight ahead speed.

Aahh. That makes sense.

Also keep in mind that with Tenuta's blitz-happy defense, if we didn't get there, we were suseptible to big plays (or the 5-7 yard dump that seemingly NO ONE figured to cover even after BC and every other team afterwards killed us with it)
