Depth Chart and Game Notes released

How on earth were we 3rd in the ACC in total offense last year?

Other funny anomolies from last year's stats - 1st in the nation in sacks, 4th in the nation in TFLs, yet 5th in the ACC in scoring defense.

I guess that is because of too many big plays against us.

Also keep in mind that with Tenuta's blitz-happy defense, if we didn't get there, we were suseptible to big plays (or the 5-7 yard dump that seemingly NO ONE figured to cover even after BC and every other team afterwards killed us with it)

Lack of adjustment. Something that killed us under the old regime.

Those BC out routes still haunt me. Reminded me of the Wake loss in '02 when they must have run the same misdirection play 55 times and it worked every time, even we (read: fans, but evidently not coaches) knew what was coming.

Yup. We had problems capitalizing on the third-and-long situation that we created with all those sacks and TfLs - many of which came on first or second down. Obviously, you want neg yardage on the opponent's 3rd down. That's the problem with blitzing every down - the other guy figures it out but saves it for third down.

A terrible ND, Samford, and Army helped the offensive stat line. Also, not everyone in the ACC played Duke.

Point taken, but even with a bad ND team, Army and Samford - didn't we still play one of the more respectable OOC schedules in the ACC?

Yes, but we were a good team. We were able to really lay it on the bad teams. Duke's schedule was weaker, but they weren't able to win, much less score.

While risking this becoming a Chan thread, we were never a bad team (over a season) while he coached. We were an also-ran. He got fired because we don't want to be good, we want to be great. Braine never got that.

I recall us doing a magnificent job of getting yards until we needed points.

Tashard Choice is why we were 3rd in offense. There was no balance though and no big play, quick strike threat.
