Did anyone else notice the JSU band were commies?

Thought we had been duped into a single season home-away with the mutts when I first walked in.

No, seriously, their whole routine was about making big sickles out of their red uniforms. I joked with SWMBO about how they were commies, and then at the end their flag corps all had capes with the USSR symbol on them.

I'm not kidding.

Nobody else saw it but me?

I wasn't drinking tonight, I swear.

I noticed that too beej, even commented on it to some people. I was in section 216.

Saw the hammer and sickle (sic) on every single flag at the end of their performance by the flagettes. I have no freakin' idea why that was for or even allowed....what's next? Swazstikas? (hell, I can't even spell it)....but I was tailgating all afternoon anyhow....
Can someone give us simple reason why the commie red flags?
:angryfire:

So I'm not crazy.

That's a good sign.

Who the heck thinks it's a good idea to do a USSR tribute during halftime of a FOOTBALL GAME? Not exactly the appropriate target audience.

I figured it was that whole "Russia invades Georgia" thingy I've been hearing about in the news.

I have two cousins that are recent JSU band members. I think both were at the game too. I'll get the inside scoop and report back tonight.

Yeah, I saw it. Made a comment about it. Dad of a girl in the band was sitting behind me.

Apparently, he didn't like me calling his daughter a commie.

Did he have an explanation, though?

They were performing "From Russia With Love"
and they did a damn good job.
