Did anyone else notice the JSU band were commies?

Yeah, we were all commenting on the "commie" thing as well as the 6 flag boys.

Our flag boy set our program back years. If we had 6 flag boys in our band we'd take a black eye that would take a generation to overcome!

I saw the commie fashion but I saw so many flamers sitting over there it looked like the gay parade- seriously..

Saw the hammer and sickle (sic) on every single flag at the end of their performance by the flagettes. I have no freakin' idea why that was for or even allowed....what's next? Swazstikas? (hell, I can't even spell it)....but I was tailgating all afternoon anyhow....
Can someone give us simple reason why the commie red flags?
:angryfire:

just so you know, the swastika pre-dates WWII by about 12,000 years and is commonly seen in the far east. it is a symbol that represents the sun and the wheel or life, and was stolen by the nazis and perverted.

if you ever went to Indonesia or somewhere like that, not only will you see the swastika as an ornamental design in fences and in decorative paint schemes, but also restaurants named "the Swastika" and similar

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika
Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period. An ancient symbol, it occurs mainly in the cultures that are in modern day India and the surrounding area, sometimes as a geometrical motif (as in the Roman Republic and Empire) and sometimes as a religious symbol. It was long widely used in major world religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Simple explanation: the music they performed was Russian. Get over it.

Then maybe they should have flown the Russian flag.

In case you failed geography, it looks like this:

I had no idea what the Russian flag looked like. If they'da flown it, I wouldn't have got it.

But then again, I didn't get it when they flew the Soviet flag either.

Man that takes me back. The girl who sat beside me in Russian class at Tech was unbelievably hot. And she would wear jean shorts that run all the way to Vostok.

And the teacher Natasha was hot too.

Interesting sidebar, but the flag above has been the Russian flag a helluva lot longer in their history than the Soviet flag.

i find it amusing and sad that "educated" adults in America have no idea of the world around them, like the flags of our key allies/adversaries. i hope you can at least point to Russia on a map. most Americans can barely find America on a globe. sad sad sad

arrogance turned stupidity!

I think non-football crowd is going to be better at recognizing the Russian flag so don't rely on this crowd for as a good gauge for all educated Americans.

I think they should have gotten some dancing bears and hot Russian girls in bikinis and ushankas. That would have made me a fan.
