Did the USF game cost us the National Championship this year?

It ensured the best OOC we can go is 2-2 (Ugag is way better than USF) It also shows that we most likely go 3-5 or 4-4 in ACC play...It shows that we are looking at a 6 win season..2-2 OOC, 4-4 ACC play, maybe 7 Win season if we can go 5-3 in ACC play...

It also shows that we are closer to the UNCs, Wake Forest, Oregon States then we are to the Clemsons, Auburns and Bamas.... So we are going to have a typical GT year that we have had so many since post Dodd!!

We’re way closer to Clemson and Auburn than Oregon State. It’s like a 1.5 hour drive to either place. I’ve never driven to Oregon but seems like a long drive. I’d prob Grayhound that trip.

13-0 USF (with wins over GT, Illinois, Houston X2, and UCF) would have an outside shot of making the playoffs. They are 39th in AP right now, UCF didn't have a single vote in the AP after week 2 (>41st) and finished 6th in AP in regular season with Maryland and Memphis being their only decent wins. UCF did however fall out of the top-10 in the CFP poll.

The way the CFP punishes G5 teams just for being G5 teams says to me that being a CFP buster is an order of magnitude harder than being a BCS buster was. The CFP voters can say "G5? lol no öööö them" and the computers can't say crap about it. I don't think USF has a shadow of a chance, unless they win every remaining game by 40+ like 'Bama would. And even still... It'd take massive 2 loss log jam chaos at the top to put them in the discussion.

Then they'd lose their first playoff game by five touchdowns and that'd be the last time a G5 team ever got in.

Considering UCF finished 6th in AP in regular season, and based on USF's current projectory undefeated could land them top 4 in ap. But I agree cfp wouldn't vote them in nor do i think they will go undefeated. Houston and ucf are better.

So you don’t think there’s any chance we get our rematch in the playoffs like I was hoping!??? Damn you you dream shattering marvelous bastard TIA

Nah. If we go 11-1 and win the ACC, we will be #in. Ohio State lost early to VT that one year and came out alright.
We are not Ohio State, don’t draw fans like they do to The Big House, and USF sure ain’t VippieSue.
