Diversity Helps Tech Win Another Big Game

Lord, Please No! I hope our players never ever mirror our society. Our society is a complete mess. Most of our society could write a novel about Paris Hilton or their favorite pro wrestler but don't even know who the vice-president is. I pray our players are better than that.

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe, uh, Diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
 
Sorry, don't mean to keep an uncomfortable thread going, but I had to address this nonsense. Example: the Argentine national basketball team-- all-white, completely homogeneous, and the defending Olympic gold medalists. Any 'great balluhs'-- nope, but a great team. Why is it that so many white people have been convinced that bias against our own selves is some kind of amulet to ward off the evil demon of 'RACISM'(whoooooo!)? You do know that this earns you no respect from non-white persons?

Er...have you kept up with basketball the past decade or so? And sthorfinnr, the Argentina national team has Manu Ginobli, who is considered a great NBA guard, and Luis Scola will probably be talked about as a great young NBA talent in the coming years. They're not just a great team; they have great players too. The NBA really is becoming a more diverse league(with respect to both color and play style) with the influx of foreign players into the league.

Not that I agree with what JEFF from OHIO is saying. His heart is in the right place though. Kind of. I guess.

No, Jeff is a dumbass. His point is that "white kids like to play basketball too". It's about talent, not skin color. Jeff wants quotas. He'll pop up any time a white player does anything against Tech to make his case. He also doesn't even know we have white players on the basketball team although it's been pointed out to him.
 
Diversity??? I don't care if the football team is totally female, as long as we win. Besides, I've seen some female students on campus that are as big and muscular as our football players. These chicks could easily pass the acid test for fullback or linebacker, and we could save money in the process, i.e., passing out protective poo-poo pads may actually be cheaper than purchasing high priced athletic cups for the players.
 
Well, I've heard the same argument used to justify quotas for non-whites-- "our young 'blank' men can do anything they want to if given a chance. Just give them a CHANCE!!(bleeding heart weeping)" While I have no problem with sports teams that are predominantly non-white, such a situation is fertile ground for pointing out the hypocrisies of the fatuous, egalitarian bean-counters, and those non-whites who just plain hate white people and are 'AT WAR!' as Chuck D was known to describe it in the late 80s/early 90s.

I phrased that wrong. He has a problem with our lack of white players, not necessarily that we have a lot of black players. I think he feels that Hewitt is discriminating against white people and not going after them in recruiting.
 
Nah, he just feels bad for all those white guys who would like to play college basketball but no one will recruit them. His actual arguments, if you can call them that, are so simple minded it's sad.
