Do you guys really think Drad responds to emails personally?

This is a serious question. I am not being facetious.

Has anyone thought that maybe he has canned answers? Staff who deliver them?

I believe he reads and responds as his schedule dictates. I am sure he has a couple of cronies trained to read emails when he gets busy and has taught them to respond in a short, personal fashion. Either way, it is more than most AD's do and I certainly appreciate it. It makes for good business.

I'm sure he has an assistant to give pat answers, filter the crazies (a lot), and summarize the highlights of the masses to him.

in spirit he does, but I hope he does not spend all that time replying to us idiots. I love though he set a system up that gives us instant gratification, as we all need from time to time, if you know what I mean

He may not respond to all emails personally but he must have someone who does it for him. I appreciate that and it makes me support him even more.

Who is this mystery man? I'm new here, but if demjackets says it is so, then I believe it is so.

Really though, who is this wizened poster? I worked in the AA over the summer and for baseball the past few years, so I probably know them... and no, I have no inside knowledge of the football situation.

I know for sure he answered one of mine earlier in the year personally, but I also know part of his response to me then was canned. I expect he's got maybe 5 canned things he can rely on, since 99% of the fan emails he gets are essentially the same thing. "Hire X, Y sucks," to which he says "thank you for the recommendation" etc.

This is the most current canned response, but it doesn't mean he doesn't read your email:

"Thank you XXX...I appreciate your note and recommendation."

I just emailed him.

I said: "Hey Rad Man, Szup!! Say, Who are you talking too right now? Edsall? Muschamp?"

Then, I said: "So, D-Train - is this YOU or are you somebody else?"

He mailed me back right away!

He said: "00, your posts on Stingtalk SUCK! :-)"

So, yeah, its him.

:D

I'm pretty sure he doesn't. I'm aware of the D-RAD 1.0, a CrackBerry automated response application with a language randomizer designed to give up to 1000 varied responses to each individual query.

Does that mean we can count on you for insider info on the baseball team? :D

Possibly, possibly... I'll have to see how much I like this board by the time baseball season rolls around. I will say the signal to noise ratio is pretty good here. Pretty solid opinions and some good (apparent) inside info. Much better than the Hive, which is full of useless and superfluous threads and posts.

But since you asked for baseball info, there's not really any earth-shattering news I know of to report. I will say that the players seem to like the new staff (Bryan Prince and Tom Kinkelaar), which isn't surprising since both have been around in some capacity in the past few years and have prior relationships with the guys. I've heard lots of good things from the pitchers about working with Kink, especially.

This board is easily the best of the three in terms of pretty much everything.

What's the word on Sean Devine? He's pitched a bit before but I'm wondering if he's gonna see some more innings this season.

Crap, I've hijacked the thread. I like Devo too, he and Elliot Ogawa seem like they could be good change-of-pace guys, especially after some hard throwers. Ogawa was pretty effective with his offspeed stuff (heck, his fastball is an offspeed pitch). I know that the past few years Devo got most of his work in practice, basically a guy they called on whenever they needed an arm for live hitting. If I recall, he said that wasn't really the case this fall - which I'd think would be a sign he'd be a possibility for more action in the spring. Hopefully he'll end up getting some more real work.

Edit: This is the football forum, so I'm going to start a catch-all Beesball thread in the appropriate place.

I'm going to hijack your hijack. Is there any truth to the rumor than Elliott Ogawa is Vu's love child?

The few times I've emailed him, I'm convinced that it was a personal response.
