Does anyone think we'll see staff changes?

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

He has a smallish offensive line with really no depth. They depend on a agility and quickness (pulling, trapping, etc.)versus smash mouth technique.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

Bankerjacket: CG is not recruiting for the OL in this current class. It's heavy in receivers, LB's, DB's. This must mean he feels he's solid on the OL for the future.

It seems his modus operandi has been to recruit guys with big body types (that aren't yet filled out) and beef them up. Because the OL is young he feels he can beef them up over the next year or two.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

I believe you are right. Batchelor was supposedly the only OL we were going to sign this year. The plan is to grow the young kids we have on campus now. Next year will be an important year for both OL and DL.

I have heard the rumor to from many a focer about David Cutcliff. Honestly I do not believe any agrement was in place. I think it was all just a smoke screen.

I'm no longer a Fan of Chan but the rumor was true. Only thing that pissed me off is that we had plenty of time to follow up on someone else and didn't.

This is, possibly, the biggest urban legend

ever spawned on a GT message board. I'm not one to act like I know more than your average fan, but in this case I do. DAVID CUTCLIFFE WAS NEVER, EVER IN DISCUSSIONS WITH ANYONE AT GT ABOUT THE OC JOB. Sorry to shout, but it's time this story got put to bed.

Chan Gailey has never spoken to any coach about becoming GT's OC and this factor alone will lead to his downfall at GT. It's a shame, really, because Gailey has a ton of football knowledge. What he doesn't have--and has no interest in obtaining--is the management knowledge (hirings, firings, delegation of duties, oversight) required of a successful head coach.

Re: This is, possibly, the biggest urban legend

Stick if you will add to much pride to the list I think you just said a mouthfull and I agree

Stick

wow- the word!
so you think there is no way in h for CG to get new ideas into the program? If this is the case we are doomed because we are beyond a trend now-the OFF sucks.

I\'m holding out faint hope

that his extension was contingent upon hiring (at least) a QB coach if not an OC. But if it is not FORCED upon him, it will not happen.

And I hold out zero hope that Nix will develop into a decent QB coach or OC; he doesn't have the work ethic for it, IMHO.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

I think we are indeed beating a dead horse, not because staff changes aren't needed, but because they have to start with the head coach. CG isn't the right man to bring us back from mediocrity, so the only answer to the mess we're in is a new head coach who can build the right staff below him and can recruit better players.

As I also said, if you believe Chan's offense won't work, you're basically saying we need a new HC.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

I don't know if Cutcliffe was talked to or not. I do know that we did not hire a true OC and the kids suffered for it.

I will believe any significant staff changes when I see them.

ST is a no brainer - has not happened yet.
OC has been a no brainer for 2 years - has not happened yet.
OL coach has been a no brainer for at least 2 years - has not happened yet.

Until changes are made, we have to assume that CGs ego will continue to hold us back, and continue to hurt our S/As.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

Yes, I honestly do believe staff changes are coming.

Hey, we're beginning to see a pattern here! Maybe we need an HC who can make no-brain decisions?

Is that "no brain", or without Braine?

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

Maybe without Braine, we'd also have someone who could make no-brainers.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

You are assuming that changes have not been made.

There is a difference between made and publicized.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

heard inklings of the same.

If this comes to fruition, I will publish what everyone has been waiting for: my psych profile on the coach, the myth, the legend. Be patient.

Re: Does anyone think we\'ll see staff changes?

Yes, that's true. I don't hear anything about GT up here in Pittsburgh. That's why I'm on this site -- I'm desperate.
