Dont want to hear this is the best d line again

IOW, we beat ourselves yesterday as much as they beat us.

More so than UV beating us.

Our horrendous turnovers and inability to capitalize on UV's mistakes only lost us this game by a whole touchdown. Seven whole points. Looking at the box score alone would lead one to believe that the score differential should have been much higher.

A very young team stayed in this game until the end. I am so accustomed to seeing this team implode somewhere in the third quarter under these same game circumstances.

We still have a lot of work to do. I don't believe anyone will deny this.

On the bright side, since the DL is the only part of the defense requiring a lot of replacements for next year maybe we won't miss them quite as much, meaning our back 7 being a year older will more than compensate for our net difference between this year's and next year's DLs.

As for UVA knowing some of our signals. Did anyone else watching on TV hear as I did a UVA player yell, "They're going to their left" right as Josh audibled at the line on the play that he fumbled at the five. I think he was flustered by their knowing what we were doing, as we were indeed checking off to go left on the play. That may explain the fumble to some degree.

College football math:

If A>B, and B>C, then C>A.

Pretty much how it goes. You can't explain it.

It could also be Josh eying where he's going with the ball before the play starts. I'm guessing college-level audibles would be nearly impossible to decipher without Belichek-like spying.

Ya college level audibles are easy to pick up if you are paying attention. By the end the game, I had a good handle of UVA's audibles and I'm in the upper North.

We dont have the best d line in the nation. Not even top 10. Finally play a good o line and this is what happens. MJ is a good DE not great. Same with our D line. Good but not great. Very disappointed with the teams performance.

Did you know that the 1985 Chicago Bears, considered by many to be among the best defenses EVER in the NFL, gave up 38 points to the Miami Dolphins in their only loss of the season? Or that the 2000 Baltimore Ravens, usually thought of as one of the very few defenses perhaps better than the '85 Bears, gave up 36 points to the Jacksonville Jaguars and over 400 yards of offense (they only won the game because the defense also caused 4 turnovers... a lot like our defense has done lately)?

My obvious point is that our defensive line has done a fantastic job all season up until Saturday. For 7 games they were a great DL but after 1 poor game you don't want to hear about them being good? Everybody has a bad game or a bad day and maybe the UVA game was theirs and it will motivate them to play even harder for the rest of the season.

I agree w. you on these points JOJATK...it's oh too easy to kick a man when he's down...I was at the game and personally a bit disappointed with the end result especially when we opened the game strong offensively....But all the bickering in the world won't change the result...If some of these people who are so freely down grading the teams performance...Why aren't they out there coaching instead of SLAMMING the KIDS on the WEB.
