Longtime lurker first time poster, so I'm fully expecting some comment about my mom after this post. I'm on the fence on changing coaches but after the last two performances and coaching decisions I can fully see the argument for change.
After reading comments on other posts on what others are wanting in a coach, I would pick Meachum (current OC at Kansas).
He was an offensive lineman at OK State from 83-87. Played under Jimmy Johnson, Larry Coker, Butch Davis, Houston Nutt. Coached under Mike Gundy and Gary Patterson. He also coached with Glenn Spencer at OK St(that many want to come back to Tech and he might could lure with him).
He grew up in Texas and coached in Georgia and Alabama before going back to OKSt. He should be able to recruit those fertile areas. He has coached up QB/WR at OKst and TCU. Was a finalist for the Broyles award in 2014.
He currently makes a littler over $500,000 at Kansas so would be affordable. His wife is from middle GA and may be interested in moving back. He runs an exciting uptempo offense that should attract top talent on that side of the ball. Defensive players would be more willing to come here because they wouldn't be getting cut blocked at practice and would be practicing against an O that we see many times during the year.
