Drew Little (one time sure GT commit) picks his school...

It took USF less than a decade.

Check out these latest Yahoo! enrollment numbers for undergrads only (only those over 10,000) compared to USF...there are five Florida colleges bigger than any in Georgia.

UGA- 25,437
GaState- 19,122
GaSouthern- 14,650
GaTech- 14,650

CtlFlorida- 39,545
Florida- 35,110
USF- 33,703
FSU- 31,347
FIU- 30,684
UNF- 14,124
Miami- 10,537

Plus Ga State is a commuter school that can't fill a HS basketball arena.
How do you think USF started?

GSt is making major strides away from this..they have more student housing then ever before.

Honestly I think they saw what happened at USF and are trying to do something similar.

If he graduates in 2009 and they don't start football until 2010, how will his eligibility work? Will he be considered a redshirt-freshman their first year playing?

Good question...although I don't think the NCAA would take a year of eligibility away from a player if the school itself isn't even fielding a team.

You have a 5 year window (once you enroll) to play 4 seasons, so he will be a redshirt. But I wonder if he will have a scholly his first year of classes?

Ga State's dorm's look like a prison. They are rapidly trying to reinvent themselves as a downtown campus school however.

Right, but the NCAA can grant exceptions in some circumstances. Jason White at Oklahoma comes to mind. He played over 6 years due to a medical redshirt. I didn't know if all of GSU's kids who came in during 2009 would be given similar exceptions.

The kids they recruit now all get redshirts. They are basically getting a 1-yr start on their program.

yes they will...because he knew it when he got there. If a kid matriculates day one anywhere....say Berry College in Rome, GA...the 5 year clock starts even though they do not have a football team. If you decide to transfer to GT after being at Berry two years because you want to walk-on and play football again...then you have already lost two years.

This is not like a program shutting down...or a kid who blows a knee in his second game of the year after already using a redshirt year.
