Some of the SEC games are on RSNs as well, aren't they? I assume that part of negotiating a TV deal is including as many different TV networks as possible.
Every game can't be broadcast on ESPN / ABC / ACCN. You get that, right? So you need RSNs to increase exposure.
Maybe when we have multiple channels of ACCN we can forgo the RSNs, but that isn't happening any time soon I'm sure.
I am not sure about the SEC using RSNs, have no idea at all
With the SEC (my guesses are below):
Game #1 is on CBS at 3:30pm unless they get the ABC 8pm, never seen the SEC on at that Time (could be wrong), on occasion like twice per yr they will have a CBS SEC 8pm Game, usually reserved for Spec Games like Bama vs LSU or uga vs Auburn
Game#2 is a 7:30 or 7:45 ESPN Game
Game #3 is 4pm SECN
Game #4 is 3:30 ESPN2 or ESPNU
Game #5 is Noon ESPN or ESPN2
Game# 6 is 8pm SECN
Game# 7 is Noon SECN
That list above is off the Top of my head, but most weeks that is how it plays out assuming no bye weeks , almost all SEC Games are in an easy to find TV Slot, and slots are based on the TV draw- Media attention surrounding the Game.
To summarize, the SEC is run like the NFL (best Sports League on the Planet), while the ACC is run like the WNBA.
We need to stop looking for an "academic fit" Conference wise and instead we should look for a FB Fit .
The SEC is number#1 because they think FB first, while the pretenders are thinking about Olympic Sports, Academic Fit, and every other obtuse variable they can find to prevent them from challenging SEC FB on a Conference level
