Have we faced an o running the pistol this year? I remember UVA using it in 08 to gain a bunch of yards.

Not unless Wake ran it. I haven't seen it yet, but I only listened to that game.

I don't remember Wake running it. I could not remember if SC State or MTSU did.

trust me most of our players have seen pistols before. They know how to handle it.

That offense has only been around for a little bit. Obviously, every knows Nevada runs it, and they invented it in 2004. So only a few teams run it. Chan Gailey used the pistol while he was OC for KC Chiefs in 2008, though not successfully. Only won 2 games that year.

FSU ran it against us a good bit last season. It won't be all that foreign to us, but we have trouble stopping anybody from running the football.

Despite all of the naysayers I believe we will get a good bit of pressure on the QB. We also will move the ball a hell of alot. The only way we lose is if we fumble the ball ... as we have done all year.

Doesn't Nevada run the pistol?

Their record sucks but they beat Cal and are not far behind Georgia Tech in rushing yards/game.

Uh Oh...

I just looked up UVa's record against Duke since 2000.

From 2000 to 2007, UVa won 8 straight by an average score of 30 to 10.

In 2008 and 2009, however, Duke beat UVa by an average score of 30 to 10.

This is NOT good news.

You can't look at one category of statistics. UVA's defense also sucked in a big way.

Yes, they run the Pistol and invented that offense as I mentioned earlier. According to the list of teams who run or have used this offense in some form, not many teams have been successful with it. Seems to me that teams that run it are compensating for a poor defense and hoping to offset that offensively, or some other underlying issue... Look no further than us, we are #1 but in not much else...

Uhh...Alabama runs it a lot, as does Ohio State.
