Dumpster Fire at Auburn

That article makes the Duke AD look like a cheerleading moron. I guess that's the way, use your friends to take swipes while you pretend to take the high road. Who talks like this?

“Allen is clearly a ‘rockstar’ leader within the broader college athletics landscape! Therefore, this is clearly a ‘death blow’ moment, as the greater enterprise of college athletics swirls via unprecedented chaos!”

Auburn has always been a win at all costs school.

Yeah, this. They have always fought tooth and nail as the little brother in a really small state. Without that chip on their shoulder they would easily be an Ole Miss or Mississippi State. It serves them really well. If only Tech had a few drops of that. Trade one dysfunction for another.

The statement was made by the former Duke AD Kevin White. It sounds as if he was drunk or on something when he released his statement. All the unnecessary adjectives and exclamation marks sound like something a 9th grade English high school student would write in his creative writing class.

When I do annual performance reviews with my leads/managers about their teams, I only have 3 standing rules to put constraints on the conversations. The first and top one is that no one can describe someone’s performance as being a “rock star.” What a completely meaningless, useless description.

TL;DR - Duke AD has heard and spoken to too many consultants.

I agree. The term “rock star” is idiotic. I’ve been to many rock concerts and read many biographies of rockers. The majority of rockers are petty people who feel entitled and generally unpleasant human beings. The very fact that a thinking person would use the term “rock star” to describe someone shows a lack of descriptive abilities.

You don’t have to scratch far below the surface to know why he said something.

Depends how much tech wants football to be part of the scholarly mission. The people I knew from HS who went to Auburn were kids who couldn't get into ugga but their parents had cash to afford out of state so they went auburn.

He also used the term "tone deaf" in his statement. He should probably just come out and say what he means but it's too easy to bounce around it with buzzwords and catch phrases.
