University of Georgia football player Elijah Holyfield -- son of boxing legend Evander Holyfield -- was arrested Monday morning on drug charges.

According to jail records, the 18-year-old running back was booked into a jail near the Georgia campus around 3 AM.

Records show he was arrested on two misdemeanor charges -- possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects. He was released around 4 AM on $4,050 bail.

Holyfield played in 5 games last season for the Bulldogs and was a top high school recruit.

We've reached out the football team for comment -- so far, no word back.

weed shouldnt count in the Fulmer Cup. a significant portion of the players face no such arrests in their states of California, Nevada, Washington (state and DC), Oregon, Maine, Massachusetts..

Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Arizona, New Mexico, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland.... all allow medical marijuana

many other cities have "decriminalization" laws like in Nashville and like they tried to get to a vote in Atlanta recently where law enforcement is told not to waste valuable taxpayer resources enforcing minor marijuana violations

just sayin

My man @BuzzCzar totally missing the point of this thread. Find a political board for all that, brolio.

not about politics at all. the posts shows that some players will be arrested for weed and some wont, so including it in Fulmer Cup is kinda dumb, imo

not political at all
its a stats thing, you wouldnt understand (if you went to Tennessee)

But yeah, i totally get that we should ridicule all Georgie players. hahahahahahahaha he got arrested by the man!

The thread ain't about legalization/non-legalization (political issue) and the after effects (stats thangs), it's about lol'ng at arrested UGA players.

Back in my day, we called that a food fight. And police did not concern themselves with such.
Yeah, I got trapped in one over a thrown pickle. It wasn't even a whole pickle... just a pickle slice. This one looks like it got out of control just a little bit though.

You must abide by the laws of the state in which you are located. It's fair to count it.

I'm actually curious what you have to do to get arrested in Athens as a UGA football player for misdemeanor marijuana offenses. Just because a law exists doesn't mean it is routinely enforced. If everyone found with MJ by the cops were arrested for possession, the volume of charges would be huge. I would be further surprised if Athens PD had a habit of strict enforcement surrounding UGA athletes. Thus, I suspect the presence of the MJ was pretty blatant and there was a good reason for police to investigate further (e.g. traffic violation).
