Just as long as your answer isn't that we haven't run that play this year, because we have. If the answer is we haven't blocked it well, then you may be on to something...of course it's the same thing everyone else has been saying.

He was running outside the hash marks more last year instead of up the middle. Doesn't seem like he's getting the pitch much anymore.

WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't see the Jack St game. I know we tried it once against Miami, once.

In the Jack ST game:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

We run him into the arms of 3 D linemen then wonder why he seems frustrated and gets injured.

Uh, actually it looked like the blocking to me. Dwyer had a ton of big gains on the dive last year too. Not all of them were on the FB Load option.

It is the blocking...A back blocking and WR blocking.

Any option play can go the distance if the blocking is there.

When the team performs poorly on offense you can go back and see where poor blocking attributed to a lack of yards.

It appears that the coaches and fans are aware of this, but not the players...(sorta joking)

Remember the big pass plays Dwyer had last year (FSU & LSU come to mind)?

Where's THAT? Get our stud player in space. Duh.

BUT...if we can't run our bread and butter plays with any kind of success...the pass plays kind of become irrelevant.

I'm pretty sure we're not discussing anything that CPJ is not aware of. He's calling plays based on how he sees the opponent's defense line up and adjust. That's not to say he's perfect at the process, but it seems silly for me to sit here at the computer and question play calling by our coach. I'd love to see the Diesel bust some long runs as much as anyone, but I think the posters pointing to the blocking are correct. We are not getting yardage consistently on any of the triple option plays because the OL is not getting it done and the blocking is not materializing by the backs and receivers. Nesbitt's passing has been inconsistent. All the adjusting and play selection in the world is not going to fix that.

GD ppl! Look at the lines. Its where football is won and lost. O line and D line get no push. Simple diagnosis.

If he played more of the Miami game he would have broken a big one. He breaks 2 or 3 tackles too often.

Yes, the blocking is bad, but that has nothing to do with it.

I don't understand the position names like a back and all that but I do know that we are not running the option with dwyer getting the pitches or running sweep like plays. I am not a football expert, but it seems like AA has gotten the outside plays (and he has done OK) and Dwyer is having to go up the middle every time.

And if our OL could block the opposing DL he would be busting 50 and 60 yarders like we are used to.

Most of JD's runs came on dive plays or midline options, IIRC. He busted a few outside too, but Roddy got them more often.

Don't care how good of a back you are...you aren't gonna break through 2-3 unblocked defensive lineman/linebackers every play.

With the blocking we had in the Miami game, running Dwyer outside the hash marks would have been the difference between a 1 yard gain and a 5 yard loss. There's nothing magical about Dwyer that he leap over unencumbered 5 Miami defenders. He's not Knowshown after all.

So you don't know the offense, but you're okay questioning what we're doing? Sound like a fan to me.:pat:
