Early in the season, we're going to demolish a good team

Clemson has one of the best if THE best defenses we'll see this year. They've got several future NFLers on their squad and they now have Kevin Steele as DC. They will not be easy to score on.

Of course I hope I'm REALLY wrong, but Clemson is always tough....even at home.

Kevin Steele can't hold PJ's jock strap. I don't think PJ won an award for the worst play call of the 20th century.

Can you elaborate?

In Steele's first season (1999), Baylor finished with a 1-10 record (the school's worst since 1969). During the 1999 season, Steele's Baylor team was involved in what ESPN.com called one of the top 10 worst coaching decisions, in 1999, when he chose a running play rather than a kneel down with his team leading and possessing the ball in the game's final 12 seconds and the opponent (UNLV) out of timeouts. The ensuing Baylor fumble and UNLV return for a touchdown gave the Rebels a shocking win

I have a feeling both Miami and Clemson will be close. I want to kick the pants off either VT or UNC though. And I feel sorry for UVA. We win that one by 40.

I agree with the concept that we will deliver a thrashing to what is considered to be a fairly decent team at least once this fall. I really want that to be VPI--four touchdowns. Might be Wake. Might be UNC, but I do think we have the possibilty of having one of those games where everything clicks offensively and our defense gets the advantage of playing their offense in desparation catch-up mode.

I think Clemson goes down hard. They lost a lot on D last year - both DT's and both S's - but their LB's will be stout. DT's and S's are keys in stopping our option attack. If they're young at those positions, and early in the year, it could be a very long day for them.

Offensively, they have to find a QB who can get it done. Spiller will be the main man this year, and will get his yards. The OL was horrible last year, and has to make a big step up this fall. Catching them early, before a QB develops, too, will be a big plus.

They may be a very good team by season's end, but the second week of the season, with all we have returning on O, I expect us to put a mammoth beat down on them.

Why do you say the DT's and Safeties are key? Remember the First Commandment: Option the best and block the rest.

Very doubtful. Even if they beat Bama, they won't jump Texas, USC, OU, or Florida.... voters still doubt the ACC (probably b/c of poor showings in bowl games) The ACC needs to make major splashes and upsets in order to be thought of on the level of the SEC and Big 12. Right now we're considered one of the second tier BCS schools.

Honestly I think we're third behind the SEC and Big 12 (as far as elite teams go and chances to win the title ... although we are by far the deepest) but the media and national thought probably has us at 5th ahead of the Big East.

If VPI gets to 6-0, I think he is suggesting that there is a scenario that the top four might stumble along the way. Anyway, if they are not 6-0, there is no hope for them to be #1. Here is the difference in my outlook towards Georgia Tech football lately. It is mid July, we are talking about a game that won't happen until mid October---and I am conjuring up scenarios in which Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech arrive at that game both undefeated. And it is not that far-fetched---AND a case could be made that the Yellow Jackets are more likely to be undefeated than VPI.:laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher: It could happen.

I def agree we could both go into that game undefeated, but to think that VPISU will be ranked #1 is just silly.

Personally I want GT, LSU, WVU, Texas, tOSU, and Oregon to go undefeated and blow up the BCS

Honestly, shorten that list to LSU, Texas and us (or WVU) and you'll achieve the same result.

I'll make a bold prediction and say JSU goes down the hardest.
No, no, no; I didn't clarify my original statement enough.

We are going to take a team to the woodshed. It's going to be ugly; I'm talking the game is over in the 2nd quarter, ESPN cutting to another game, announcers cracking jokes during the telecast ugly.

It's going to be worse than Jax. State. I'm talking 50-60 points here.

Basically, what you're saying is that GT is going to repeat what happened vs UM.

Only this time it'll be a revenge case and the....Jackets....won't get called off.

I refuse to use the other word in that sentence.

Let me ask you a question Ish. In all honesty, how bad of a hit have you taken in the stock market over the last three years? Small loss/little gain? Hit hard? Broke as a Joke?

This ain't stocks. This is feeling good about your team. Quit toting that barrelorum around and drink some of it. It'll help ease your worries!
