Ultimately, it could be a poll question, but I don't know if it's worth it.
Some have suggested that it would be nice to get an ACC game into our schedule early, and it made me wonder whether trying to get a regular season-opening (week 2) rivalry game going.
Assuming a typically FCS week 1 game, would you be in favor of a week 2 game that was always the same ACC opponent (ie Coastal or Clemson)? If so who?
Considerations:
Clemson - Solid, regularly upper-half team; Rivalry already exists; Challenges team to get into season form early without impacting coastal race
VPI - Recently biggest threat/challenge in Coastal Division; Rivalry Potential: they have "Tech" envy and should be dealt with up-front; sets the coastal race early
UNC - Solid Coastal Division Opponent; Rivalry history is not like Clemson but starts to move in that direction when fans of both football AND basketball are considered; Gets us into Coastal race without being against VPI or Miami
Any others?
