ESPN early bowl projections

With one projection being Maryland and the Athens Puppies, that could be fun. Ralph vs Mark, the Dawgs would have a fit being "stuck in Atlanta", heck it would be fun to attend and cheer for Ralph and the Terps.
Ralph and the Terps in a blow out. UGA will lose another Home game.

Decided to play around with some BCS bowl projections of my own. I took the top 20 in the BCS standings an projected week-to-week results for the remainder of each teams schedules to come up with these projections.

BCS: Ohio State (12-0) vs Texas (12-1) *

Sugar: Auburn (12-1) vs Wisconsin (11-1) **

Orange: Ga Tech (11-2) vs Florida (11-2) ***

Fiesta: Notre Dame (10-2) vs Louisville (11-1) ****

Rose: USC (11-1) vs Michigan (11-1)

* -Depended upon whether a Texas Big 12 championship win over a 3 loss Nebraska team would hold off an Auburn SEC championship victory over a 1 loss Florida team.

** -Decision came down to either Wisconsin or Cal (10-2).

*** -If Auburn were to overtake Texas then Florida would have gone to the Sugar, leaving GT's opponent to be Louisville.

**** -My Fiesta decision was tough since the only Big 12 BCS team was Texas, which I projected into the BCS game. I figured that the Fiesta would jump on Notre Dame. I projected Louisville in a turbulent manner, with Rutgers defeating Louisville and West Virginia defeating Rutgers, leaving all three teams tied for first, I have no idea who would win the Big East tiebreaker, but my final poll prior to the bowls had L'ville ranked highest.

By the way, I had Boise State losing their final regular season game @ Nevada, just to get them out of the way. If they run the table I suppose they slot to the Fiesta and Louisville then bumps Wisconsin in the Sugar (and out of the BCS altogether).

------------------------------------------------------------

If Auburn overtook Texas in the BCS game I would then have:

BCS: Ohio St/Auburn
Sugar: Florida/Notre Dame
Orange: GT/Louisville
Fiesta: Texas/Cal (Boise St would bump Cal)
Rose: USC/Michigan

Doing this is a lot more interesting as well as a lot more fun when your team has the potential to be involved in the process.

You forgot Boise State in the Fiesta.

I had footnoted them, decided to leave it out, but then included it again. I would prefer they lose.

On 1 level, I agree with you. But, on another, I would like to see what happens when a team has a good record against a weak schedule plays a team that has a good record against better than average competition.

Uhhhh, didn't that happen in the Emerald Bowl???

gack.

totally different.

both teams will care in a BCS game. The Emerald Bowl as a slap in the face and meaningless game for us. We had nothing to win by playing it.

Only way Auburn can get to the Sugar Bowl is for Arkansas to finish 0-2 and Auburn 2-0 and then Auburn beats Florida in a rematch. That is possible but in my mind highly unlikely.

Where might we go if we lose ACC champ in Jax?

Back to the Emerald Bowl if the league office has a say in it.
Now that Butch has been hired at unc, don't be surprised if swofford lobbies for the tar-holes in the OB...this year.

Very unlikely, last time the Gators played Auburn in the Georgia dome, the Gators unleashed hell on the poor tigers. IF (and that is a big IF) Auburn somehow wins the West, the Gators will not lose to them twice in the same season.
What is all this talk of Auburn winning the West? It is going to be Arkansas.

Arkansas could lose to both Tennessee and LSU. However, they have both at home and it is unlikely that they drop both. I had Arkansas and Auburn both finishing 7-1 in the West, I made the Auburn decision based upon them winning a tie-breaker, which I could be (and looks like I am) wrong about.

Nonetheless, I do see Auburn running the table and playing in a BCS bowl, but if they cannot win the SEC West tie-breaker with Arkansas then there indeed is no way they would play in the BCS game, as one of my earlier posted predictions had them doing.

The real reason I twisted my predictions up a bit is because I prefer to play someone else besides Auburn in the Orange. Has nothing to do with feeling whether or not GT could win the game (of course I think they could), it's just that the two have faced each other twice recently and I would just rather face Florida.

I suppose there is an outside shot at this occuring if Arkansas wins the SEC and goes to the Sugar, that is, if Florida remains a BCS team with two losses and runner-up status in the SEC, which might not happen because of the high number of one-loss teams.

In conclusion, I think I will re-think my BCS predictions.

I would just as soon not play Auburn. I'd rather get someone else. Auburn probably feels like they owe us something.
Just my opinion.

GT65,

It is probably beneficial to not go to the SEC championship game and lose. If, for example, Florida and Arkansas play in the championship with one loss each, the loser comes out with 2, while an Auburn may still only be a one loss team. The team not going to the championship would end up ranked higher and have a better chance for a BCS game.

Mover is a homer. Simpson that is.;)
