I saw this on the Hive and it prompted me as I have been thinking about this as well.

What if GT fans showed up at College Gameday of the Bama/Clem's Son and made our presence known?

I mean, who says we couldn't do this? They are attempting taking over our state/city and we should make it clear that we aren't going to sit idly by and let them overrun us and our weekend of celebration of CPJ's first victory at GT.

Is this over the top? Would any here be willing to show up in White and Gold?

Just a question... Don't flame me

No. No one is even willing to show up in White and Gold when it's our own game. Being at college gameday at Clemson two years ago was embarrassing not only because there were virtually zero GT fans there, but because it made me realize just how bad the turnout for college gameday in Atlanta was.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Rally the troops its party time... Yellow Jacket style. There she was just a walking down the street.

I appreciate your optimisim. ;)

I say let's do it... I think me and some of my GT buddies up here in Tennessee may drive down... I actually may be able to recruit some Vol fans to come down in the White and Gold as well.

On that note, Vol fans here in the Cleveland area seem to really like GT. I've talked to lots of them and they are talking about Paul Johnson and how they can't wait to see us kick Georgie's hindend again.

No problem. When we start having actual home games against U[sic]GA every other year, I'll start being optimistic about our fanbase. That means Paul Johnson has a big job in front of him...but I have faith.

I'd put that blame on the ticket packages, rather than our fanbase - but eh.

Hey--there could certainly be better ways of getting the stadium to be gold for that game, and hopefully Radakovich is looking at them. But guess what? Yellow Jacket fans have just as much opportunity to purchase those packages as Georgia fans, and even more of an incentive, since we should be interested in every game. There are just more U[sic]GA fans AND they are more dedicated and willing to spend money. I know there are legitimate reasons why these things are true, but that doesn't change the situation.

More relevant to the topic at hand...like I said, we had no presence at Gameday in Clemson. What do you think the Clemson presence would be like if we had Gameday in Atlanta for Clemson-Tech? We just don't have a lot of dedicated fans compared to other schools at this point in time.

I don't know what crack you're smoking, but the turnout for gameday for Tech / ND was pretty outstanding. I mean yeah, probably not as much as a mega enrollment state school on-campus, but pretty damn good. Looked good on TV too.

i would come out...

speaking of which, in PJ's radio show someone called in and asked about the Atlanta Sports Council having games like Bama Climpsun and his backyard, with VT coming in next year, and wanted to know how he felt about that in terms of recruiting and other aspects, and PJ resonded "read into this however you want, but now comment"

what do you guys think about that? is GT really being screwed by atlanta sports council hosting these games?

It was a lot better than I thought it would be...I was scared it would be overrun by ND fans. However, it was still absolutely nothing compared to what Clemson had at theirs(pulling these numbers out of my ass, but I seem to remember our GD attendance around 1,500 and Clemson's around 10,000) and would compare similarly to Bama if they hosted it. I'm not saying that I'm disappointed with our college gameday, because I loved it...just not to get any delusions about GT fans getting all worked up and actually having a presence at a Bama-Clemson gameday.

I for one am not embarassed in the least taht we didn't get OUR ENTIRE STUDENT BODY to attend ESPN Gameday. 10,000 folks is a lot of folks for Tech.

"Presence" doesn't have to be a mob of people. A couple big GT flags waving in the background of the TV broadcast would do the trick.

Geeze...learn to count. We had waaaaay more folks than 1,500 at Gameday.

That place was nuts.

The Clemson Gameday was reported to be the biggest crowd that they've ever had at a Gameday.

Instead of going yourselves, why don't you stand out front and hand out yellow GT shirts to stupid Bama fans. You can tell them that you're with the school and you're starting a new tradition, "Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer"-out, and the GT stands for Go Tide. They're pretty stupid, they might buy it.

Exactly, I don't think anyone in their right mind expects us to outnumber Bama and Clemson fans there their. SO, we have to do things to make up for it. Monster GT flags, posters, bull horns blasting RRFGT, etc. We (suppose to be) the smarts ones. I'm sure we can figure something out.

You would think someone at GT could set up some loud speakers in the vicinity and run Ramblin' Wreck on a loop... while Buzz and the cheerleaders are doing pushups, cheers, and waving flags... That would be awesome to see!

Actually, while you are making a joke, it would be very funny if we some students could pull of a practical joke on the other schools. Sort of like those all-time pranks from Cal Tech at the Rose Bowl. Anyway, someone challenge the student body to make a name for themselves. Also, it can be a recurring practical joke as the game will occur every year.

Start small....
