ESPN Gameday-Bama/ Clemson... and GT???

Absolutely Tech is being screwed by Gary Stokian and the Atl Sports Council. I e-mailed Radakovich about this after it was announced that VaTech would play in '09. He responded by saying he was going to bring this up at the ACC meetings this last July. Have not heard how his complaint was taken. Knowing Swofford and his North Carolina buddies, they just shrugged their shoulders and said- that's life in the big city.

Looks like the administration is stepping up and trying to do something to help this cause:

ESPN kicks off their season of football coverage with College Gameday this Saturday in Centennial Olympic Park. While the crew might be here for the Clemson – Alabama game, let’s show ESPN and the country they can’t come to Atlanta without recognizing Georgia Tech and the SWARM! Get there early, make signs, wear Georgia Tech gear, and join the inflatable Big Buzz so GT can make its presence felt to start the season. Go to chickfilabowl.com for more details.

Fox 5 and Channel 2 both didn't even mention our game tonight on the 6 o'clock news.

They both talked about the Ugay/Southern game and the Bama/Clemson game.

There's another Maisel article on ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/notebook?page=iform080827&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1) and it got me thinking about this whole situation. If these Chik-Fil-A games are more about revenue for the schools then about anything else, why can't we get in on this action? I know this would essentially be another home game for us, but from a revenue sharing perspective, it's a neutrel site. And money is all that matters when you get down to it. I don't know what our OOC schedules are in the next few seasons, but I think D-Rad should make a pitch to these buffoons.

We'd need to improve our attendance first. They wouldn't want a game in front of a half full dome. With teams like Clemson and Bama, they can be assured of a sellout...in fact, more people will probably come than there will be tickets. If we do start to draw more and travel better though, there's no reason this couldn't happen...there are plenty of teams that have played games at a "neutral" site very close to their stadium.

The AJC is one thing, but Channel 2 is a whole other monster. I haven't paid them any attention or time in a few years because they're so utterly blatant with their complete disregard of our existence. The AJC is guilty of a lot of things, but we still get coverage from them. WSB-TV is absolutely disgusting.

Well, consider that this is the station that has featured for years Monica (I can't pronounce anything but look at my different hair style/color each week even though I should have retired years ago) whatshername!?!

Kaufman. I tried, in vain, for years to forget about her awful movie reviews and anything else of hers that was on in lieu of quality, or even marginally redeeming, programming. I had finally managed. Thank you for reminding me of her.

We should start a tradition of having the GT Band go to GameDay and play our fight songs throughout the broadcast.

While waiting to get my kids hair cut about noon time, they panned the crowd and held the camera on Clemson fans where in amongst the crowd was someone holding a GT poster. It appeared the camera wanted to get a fix on that. Didn't last long but I did see it.
