Morning Hokies! Another week of football and forum talk is upon us.
On to GT...
I am not worried about GT at all. Watching the FSU game sealed my assumption that they capitolize on teams that can't play defense. The only good defense they faced was Miami, and we know how that ended for them. Bud will have the defense ready to go. The offense is looking revitalized and full of confidence, our skill players are too fast for them. We will burn them up and dow the field similar to what Miami did. Im looking at another blowout, 31-14.
And I am being gernerous with that 14. It is a home game for GT, and I expect them to get a TD in garbage time similar to BC.
GO HOKIES!!

Nesbitt is going to hate his life this saturday after he gets abused for 60 minutes. VT will punish him every time he takes off. As for Demaryius, we are going to have him in bracket coverage and shut him down like we did Julio Jones when we played Bama. GT does not have a home field advantage considering VT has only lost 4 times on the road vs. ACC teams since joining the league in 2004. Nasty.

The main problem that GT has for this game is that Bud Foster stops gimmick offenses for leisure while on vacation. I think GT will do well to score 17 like they did last year.

okay GT fans, seriously think about this .. do you REALLY think your a better team. come on look at our record our only loss is to #2 in the country in our first game and you guys lost to miami (who we beat) =) honestly look at the stats, do u really think you will win? my vote tech will come out big in the first half and then die down a little but will win it 31-14. Go #4 HoKiEs ! ! (p.s. get real GT)

I really hate VT fan's especially when they get cocky. They think Bud Foster is god, and that we still have a gimmick offense that they shut down last year.

They sound pretty ****ing scared to me. They know we bring thunder and lightning on offense and they are scared ****less. I love it.

It doesn't surprise me that you're giving up on our defense. You're the guy that gave up on Nesbitt.

I also admitted I was wrong when Nesbitt showed otherwise.

I'm looking forward to the defense making me eat crow.

Didn't realize stating a fact was "giving up on them".

It is not a "fact" that the defense is "like clouds." Do you even know what "fact" means? Go shoot your budddy in the butt with a paint bullet or something.

Georgia Tech is ranked 82 in total defense per game and 77 in scoring defense per game.

Like clouds, unless you think clouds would defend better.

Feel free to find some way to sugar coat that, but you won't find a good one.

I dug into that a little bit and was a little concerned about what I found.

Both GT and VT are allowing their opponents to rush for about 50 yards per game more than their average (for ex: if Team X averages 100 rushing yards per game, they can expect to rush for 150 against GT or VT).

However, GT is allowing teams to pass for 35 yards more than their average whereas VT holds teams passing game to 40 yards under their average.

And the worst of it: VT holds their opponents to 13 points under their average while GT's opponents pretty much score their average.

So, if this pattern holds up, VT will rush for 260 yards, pass for 225 yards and score 34 points while Tech will rush for 327 yards, pass for 120 and score 20 points.

Where I think the stats become misleading is Tech's passing yardage. We are just now finding our passing groove and I think we'll pass for more than 120. I think the 327 rushing yards is not too off base. So if we pass for 180 and rush for 330 that would put us over 500 yards of offense. There's no way we score only 21 with 500 yards of offense - that would put us in the high 30s.

Given all this stat nonsense, I'll say the final score will be 41-38. Who wins? Gotta give that to the home team. W00T!!

Hokies are the state of Virginia's equivalent to the state of Georgia's Dawgs. There are "every mans" team...full of rednecks and only one notch above West Virginia fans....which subsequently are one notch above LSU fans.

Well, we did look like crap against Miami. I can understand why teams would think this. Plus, Bud Foster is no Mickey Andrews. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we can run all over VPISU the same way we ran over FSU. I don't get warm and fuzzies about this game, but I don't think it will be high scoring either.

I really hope they do have Bey-Bey in bracket coverage, but I think Foster is too smart to employ that strategy against our offense. If they do, we might have another game where we don't have to punt.

Sadly, Bud Foster is not this stupid.

Bud Foster has been the best DC in the ACC since the day VT joined. I would really like some random Big 10 or Big East lure him away from VT with a head coach position.

What's bracket coverage?

Just means that the corner covers over the top outside and the safety covers inside on him.

So one less safety in run support is what they are claiming...I really REALLY hope so too. :)

Ant and Jones will run WILD if that's the case. Normal defenses that plan for our offense put the safety on the pitch man, but if they are willing to commit him to BayBay, I'm ok with that.

I wont even give them the notch above WVU fans.
