ESPN needs to go back to the drawing board

"All of their skill players return, but legitimate concerns remain about how well they'll fare in the trenches."

Fair enough analysis. What dont any of you get, we have an untiried Oline & Dline. Until proven under game pressure both are major questions. The games are won in the trenches. Preston Lyons ran all over our #1 D this spring with the #2 O Line, what makes you think C.J. Spiller and 6 other great southern running backs wont.

Isn't that reason to be optimistic about the O line? I'm expecting a top 30 defense...top 40 and I'll be happy. Our offense is going to light some teams up this year. As long as our defense doesn't collapse ala Joe Ham's senior year, we should win 9+.
We will have trouble with UVA because of their OL size, and VT because they have a mobile QB and a stable of RB's, but nobody else in the ACC scares me running the ball...including Clemson. Spiller is scary as hell on a swing pass, but not so much between the tackles.

I do think that our oline is going to be improved this season, though pass protection will likely continue to be iffy. Even if we don't have great depth there it is still better than what we had last year and I also think that the more time they have to learn the better they'll get.

I think too many people are underestimating our upcoming defensive line. Nothing needs to be said about Derrick, we all know what he is capable of and I expect great things from him. Ben and Robert have never started a game but they've played in a combined 48 games as backups so it's not like we're bringing an completely inexperienced players on the line. Last season, our d-line helped take the pressure off of our young linebackers and defensive backs. Our LBs and DBs will need to be able to hold their own and I believe they can and will.

I'm definitely concerned about the offensive line but technically, I'm thinking that they can't get worse then last year. :fingersx:
