ESPN is obviously going to cater to the "here and now" idea, since that is what ESPN really is. But I think they'll pretty much fall in line with what people have said here. There will be one or two "here and nows" thrown in there though.

There was an unrelated article on ESPN today that revealed that Miami holds the number 10 spot in this.

I enjoy that VPI&SU is one spot higher than Duke and only passed them this year. :laugher:

I don't believe for a second that they'll put us ahead of Georgia, simply because I don't believe that ESPN is that intelligent.

I think Texas and Penn St squeeze in over 2 of the Florida schools. The Florida schools have only been relavant for the past 2.5 decades.

The rankings are based after 1936. This is not good for Tech as we lose 2 NC's. UGA will likely be higher with a much higher winning percentage since then.

Yeah if not for that we'd be ahead of Georgia. However, I think this will at least make me feel better in that people like ESPN ACC blogger Heather Dinich will realize FSU and Miami aren't the only programs with history in this conference.

It is now official. According to ESPN (for what that's worth), Georgia Tech is the 18th most prestigious CFB program in the nation since 1936. That's pretty decent considering it completely leaves out the Heisman era (our second best) as well as 2 National Titles.

18. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Total points: 610
Positives: The past 10-season span is the first decade that Georgia Tech has moved up our Prestige Rankings since the '50s, which was the golden era of Yellow Jacket football. Between the 1951 and 1955 seasons, the program was 48-6-3 with five wins in the biggest bowls around (3 Sugar, 1 Cotton, 1 Orange).
Negatives: The Yellow Jackets haven't had a major bowl win since the 1955-56 season, when they won the 1956 Sugar Bowl at the tail end of the aforementioned five-year dream run under coach Bobby Dodd.
Through the decades: Through 1958: 4th | 1968: 8th | 1978: 12th | 1988: 15th | 1998: 19th
Did you know? Georgia Tech is the highest-rated team in the Prestige Rankings to never be ranked No. 1 in an AP poll.
