Was just watching Sports Center as they called out their picks for the Top 25...When they got to the UGA vs. USC (east)....Both picked UGA to win and then stated that the "SEC is like a mini-proleague....never know what's going to happen.....each week beating each other up."

1. Does that mean when a non conference team beats a SEC team then they should lose their college elig. & deem themselves "professionals"?

2. HOw much of an impact will ESPN monopoly over the College Football coverage impact which teams are selected for the BCS bowls....due to how they cover, spin, & PR teams within the SEC.

3. I personally think UGA loses to USC to begin the
first 0-2 start....And ugay fans begin to call for Cox to be benched and for heads to roll w/in the coaching staff...

My father used to call them the "bush-league pro league."

Cox is already benched. They're starting the other guy tonight.

I heard that Cox is starting. Logan Gray starting was nothing more than a rumor.

Ah, the time-honored "We beat each other up" line. SEC fans have used this since I can remember to explain everything. Conference losses, nonconference losses, bowl game blowouts, games with a final score of 3-2, you name it, it's because the SEC beats itself up week in and week out.

I think espn will have more of an influence on bowl selections than anyone will admit.

Is it really any surprise? People act like bowl selection should be based on team success, but what it's really based on is TV ratings and traveling fanbases. See: any time ND is eligible for the BCS.

We don't get to use the "we beat each other up" line when we open with an out of conference loss to WILLIAM AND MARY.

But they would. If Vanderbilt lost to William and Mary in week one, a UGA fan would tell me that Vandy beat itself up in practice with all those big tough SEC players they have.

Watching gameday last week and today (on DVR thankfully so that I could FF) made it very clear that with this new deal, ESPN has totally sold out to the SEC. Their coverage has been more biased than usual and it is becoming evident in their coverage that they are not independent journalists reporting sports news, but rather cheerleaders for the SEC. This could very well hurt them in the long run because they will lose viewers who don't love the SEC. Unfortunately, right now there are enough people that do Love the SEC that they will seem justified with this move short term, but it hasn't always been that way and won't always be that way. In the mean time, I will just stop watching b/c their coverage went from good to mediocre to plain BAD...

Maybe I am swayed by the fact that they haven't mentioned GT once in two weeks...

No, it's bad all right. I'm usually the one calling people out when they complain about perceived biases, but ESPN has been all over the SEC this year to the point of ridiculousness.

Of course, the ACC really did itself a disservice by having a second straight terrible opening weekend, which just rewards ESPN for what they are saying.
