I think he was at a loss for words and that was the first thing that came out. At least that's what I hope.

I think he is just a really bad announcer. Right after the block he yells "blocked! Snuffed! Rubbed out! Erased!" and then when recapping the play he said that Austin "scampered! Evaded! Escaped! Eluded!" all the FSU players.

Guy just doesn't have a way with words. But if you're going to be bad during an epic moment, it's best to be over-the-top bad, which he was.
