Exiting MBS

I was row 19 on the 30 yard line of the upper deck and had no issues seeing the board.
So you could see the full comparison from there? We couldn't. I was in row 9, 304.
I guess if it is acceptable to you that some people can see the boards then I suppose the stadium is a rousing success

I think at one point during the game there was one stat I couldn't see, which was not ideal but really didn't impact my overall experience at all. Personally I loved the halo board, but I could see how it might be terrible if you were ten rows up.

Also I agree the roof is kind of a joke. We couldn't see it at all from where we sat so not sure how big of a difference there will be when it opens other than weird shadows on the field.

Still loved the stadium though and will make a point of trying to get back in the future.

There was enough red lighting in some of the message board stuff that at times it made the GT sections of yellow look orange for the TV cameras.

Yep, I noticed this. Between the straight-up orange Home Depot ads and the red Coke ads and stuff, everything looked orange.

The concessions are cheap - good idea there. Pedestrian flow in the 100-level concourse is a straight-up nightmare. Seats were comfortable, despite being pretty flimsy. Sound was the worst I've ever heard in a stadium or arena in terms of echo - impossible to hear anything. Video board was OK, but it was too hard to find where the ball was spotted (I was in the end zone and couldn't see much) and it took them FOREVER to update down and distance between plays. Stats were also suspect - I think we had a ~7 minute drive in the 2nd quarter that they listed as a 2:45 drive.

I was pretty shocked at how poorly design the flow of people was in this stadium, like many of you. Not sure how you only have one way in and out of a big building like that.

We were in the 300s but fortunately low enough to see the full screen, which is amazing. I can't believe that a fairly significant portion of fans are not able to see the screen. Crazy.

Also in the upper sections, the stair steps going up actually cover over the row numbers on the seats, such that you can't see the row numbers. Very strange.

It was pretty much impossible to hear the bands playing from where I sat.

They were showing "updates" on scores from the weekend, and some of the Saturday games were shown as still being in progress. LOL!

On our way out two rentacops closed a giant metal gate and tried to force everyone out through a tiny little hole in the wall. People were yelling at them and they were yelling back something like "go see Arthur Blank, he's in the building, it's his building so you tell him to open the gate." The situation became dangerous, with a giant tightly packed, somewhat intoxicated, half pissed crowd all moving towards a tiny exit. That led to hundreds of people jumping over walls to get out and not five minutes into that they opened the gate anyway.

Total clown show on that count. Can't imagine what they were thinking, but whatever it was, it was dumb as hell.

Worst waste of money ever. My seats were fine, row 11 at midfield upper deck. I could see the video boards fine. The seats in upper deck are very cheap and none too sturdy. They have survived four events. After forty they wil be a wreck. I have never seen worse pedestrian traffic flow. Need more ramps, escalators, and much wider concourses. Concessions are cheap. They are also awful. Filling your own drink cup was an awful idea by our section, they ran out of ice and people had spilled drinks that meant a huge section of floor was slippery. Not nearly enough men's restrooms. Acoustically, the building is awful. A concert would be a total waste of money. The Rolling Stones and Taylor Swift would sound the same. The Georgia Dome is a much better venue. To top it off, a smart aleck staff member taunted as we exited, "Cheer up Tech fans, Georgia will take care of Tennessee for you in Knoxville."

Was Bernie the smart one at Home Depot? I would have never signed off on such a crummy stadium.
For those that "love" it, are you saying that is good building design?
That roof is Frankenstein~ian.
It is like they tried to impress by sticking that elaborate roof system on a mediocre stadium design.

I agree the egress from the stadium is a total mess. Having only four gates to exit is insane. There’s a whole half of the stadium where there isn’t a single exit between gates 1 and 4 on the west side of stadium. Exiting gate 1 going towards the Vine City Marta station you have to walk down multiple stairwells into the basement to exit. Marta was great and I think it helps that 2 stations serve the stadium.

We were in 114 and best I could tell there were 15 stalls max in the bathroom serving two lower level sections. Food line was long but moved fairly quickly and they were clearly still training employees.

Acoustics terrible and I lost my voice just from talking to the person next to me. Seats were wide and comfortable despite looking flimsy and wrong shade of gold. Advertising ribbons were blinding at times and need adjustment. Halo board is an overrated gimmick; it’s basically 3 large scoreboards x 2.

I dunno; we didn't have any of these issues and it sounds like we were in similar sections (217) or at least the gate side. Took escalators down to Gate 1 on the way out and it was simple. Was rather scratching my head at all the people choosing to do the stairs in that flood. Can't comment on going in since we got there at 6:30 so crowd issues wouldn't matter then.

Loved the seats - very soft and wide. No ridiculous arm rests jutting out like crazy. Plenty of room to get out of the row.

Loved the open concourses in the end zones on the 200 level. Sat there on the non city window side for an hour just talking before the game and got some nice pictures.

Admittedly didn't have to do the bathroom or concession shuffle.

That place is going to be rocking for Falcons games - considering grabbing Green Bay tickets now.

Don't "grab" 300 level seats.

Cool digital down marker tho

Often times they did not agree with what the PA announcer was saying and what was being shown on the scoreboard. One time they didn't even agree with each other. One was showing one down and the other one on the opposite sideline was showing a different down.

I also thought that despite the colossal amount of video screen barrage, there was actually very little useful information. Down and yards to go could only be seen in one place from my seats. Want statistics? Forget it. Much more important to show you inane commercials and meaningless graphics. I will say though that the resolution of the video boards is incredible.

Acoustics are indeed terrible. Cannot believe just how bad they were - much worse than the Ga Dome which was bad already. Maybe a concert will use the PA system in a way that fixes it, but I'm betting on an airplane hangar effect.

Stadium egress was a complete disaster. If they ever have to evacuate that place for an emergency, it will be Armageddon.

Wow - lots of complaints of the new stadium. Is the egress issue the event security, the building design, or both? Can't say I am surprised by the lack of views in the stadium. It is and awkward interior - trying to do many things at once!

I could be wrong, but I think about half the gates into/out of the stadium weren't open yet on the lower level for some reason, which would make it much better in the future when you have the option of looping around on the outside rather than inside. Stadium staff were preventing anyone from going downstairs around sections 119/120, behind the GT endzone where the main level is above grade. That forced everyone in the stadium to walk behind the other endzone to get out near the falcon sculpture.

I do think the corridors were way, way too small and created a lot of choke points, but that may get better when more gates are open. Or it may be a design feature to make you stop and get a beer. Seats were OK. Really liked the bar areas where you could have beer and watch the game standing.

I loved the halo board, but I agree that there needs to be better signs showing the down/distance/yardline. Those are easy fixes for the future.

Building design. There is apparently only one "street level" exit. Other exits take you into the underground parking or to the Vine Street MARTA station. Something like that.

We got ööööed on the way out when they closed the staircase outside that everyone was moving toward. That forced us onto Marta and we ended up on the train that stopped in the tunnel.

It was a öööö show and took us an hour and a half to get to our hotel.
Ouch. I took less time than that to get to Forsyth county.

Of course I parked dang near on campus and walked a good ways, but that got me out of the traffic completely.

Mostly agree with the critics. If I paid taxes for that half ass "improvement" over the Ga Dome I would be pissed.

Facts: sat in very good seats, 11th row section 105. Ate chicken tenders and drank a coke.

Pros: concession prices seemed great. Ingress went smooth, not a given post 9/11. Cool bar at top of section 105.

Cons: only one honey mustard dispenser: totally out of course. Video board when split GT/UT info seemed to have much content curled around the side and not visible. During replays seemed better with nothing hidden. Bad bottleneck at top of section 105 stairs.

Verdict? Like taking your two year old Land Cruiser with 20k miles and no sunroof, blowing the car up for a total loss, then buying a new Land Cruiser at full retail, but with a sunroof!

You had some sweet seats. I was in section 115 so I missed the action at the far end of the field if not for the jumbo screens.

Food choices and access to beer were good near our section.

Coke machine ran out of ice.
