Expect Big Player Shift Next Season

According to the sports talking heads this AM, a LOT of Tech players will be hitting the portal at the end of the season. Looks like whomever we hire as the next HC will have yet another re-building process. Oh goodie goodie. Something I'm not looking forward to.
Not concerned at all. Any of the kids who don't like our new HC should do what they need to do. We will rebuild with or without them. No hard feelings. Pretty sure the incoming guy will fill some holes using the exact same revolving door.

That'll depend on who gets the head coaching job.

Does anyone know if we're having any trouble hitting the portal for guys of our own? Is The Hill being cooperative with this, regarding allowing people to transfer in and get their credits and what not? Bud Elliott was talking about this the other day. Apparently Stanford's running into a real problem with transfers -- and because their grad programs won't play ball with athletics and let these kids into grad school (so the 5th year guys transfer out).

You know how this would be a non-issue?

I'll take things that were 100% obvious from the moment we fired the Clown.

It is the main reason that Deion makes sense in our situation. He is the singular coach who would entice the current players to stay and portal players to come.

As already mentioned, this is just the new landscape of college football. Arizona St, Auburn, Colorado, Tech, Nebraska, and Wisconsin will all probably see several players opt for the portal. Thing is, also already mentioned, not all of these players will land in a better place.

Just a question to your response, what if Deion fails to coach em up and ends up leaving or getting canned due to lack of wins. How do we recover from that? We basically would be labeled a cant win w/ a Big Coach who excells at recruiting type school. What high schooler would want to come to Atlanta after that?

I would expect to lose six to eight in December and another six to eight after Spring practice. That is why the new coach needs to be named the Monday after the Georgia game. He needs to know players he wants to get through the portal that can enroll in January and be contributors next fall.

My over/under on transfers out plus those who quit with eligibility left would be 22.

That isn't that big of an "if" in reality. Maybe Deion doesn't translate to D1 football or Georgia Tech. That wasn't the point of my post though. We are staring down the barrel of a decimated team with any player currently on the roster that has the abitlity to tranfer, transfering. Deion is a singular figure who is a once in a lifetime shot right now. When if ever has a person that is universally beloved in the city, who is transcendent in the popular culture, charasmatic, an NFL hall of famer, and succesful at his job (head coach) going to be available to come not just to GT but to any school? The answer is never. Never again will the stars align like they currently are for Georgia Tech. If we don't hire him eventually another D1 school will and he will either succeed for fail. However, if he succeeds it will go down as one of the biggest missed opportunies in GT history, on par with leaving the SEC.

The point of my post was if we are going to have any legit jimmys and joes on this team next season Deion is the most likely to make that happen.

Every coach has the question of "what if they fail." A lot of coaches who were sure things get fired every year. I don't see anyone on our list of candidates that is a can't miss. Everyone of them has a negative.
