Expectations for 2007

I think we will be very good if we stay healthy. We probably have more depth but still never enough. Last year, we may have sneeked up some folks in a weak conference. Even so, I think we could've, should've, would've won the ND, UGly, WF and WV games for an utterly fantastic season.

The conference may be better this year. Losing Calvin is huge. We figure to be no better in the defensive backfield with the loss of Kenny. The QB position is paramount. We won't be sneeking up on anyone...to the contrary, we'll be the ones on the hot seat this time and we had better not get cocky, even against Duke.

Summing up, I think this will be a very good team that needs to stay healthy and play hard for 60 minutes every game if we are to exceed last year's record. If Taylor becomes the second coming of Godsey, I can visualize an offensive machine that keeps the defense rested while the offense marches up and down the field. Finally, as always, we need adequate special teams play. This year I think we may get it.

Not too bad. Ergo, I quote myself. I was right about how much we will miss Calvin and Kenny, but TB is not Godsey-like.

I think we will fall back a little in the ACC this year. I think 6-2 is realistic. I would be a little disappointed with 5-3, but it might be in the cards considering we go to UVa.

I worry a little about how TB handled the second half of the GB.

2-0 vs Army and Samford is a given. Anything less would be horrific.

1-1 vs UGa and ND. But I would gladly trade a 51-7 drumming by ND for a 2-0 win over UGa.

So, 9-3 or 8-4 (depending on how the Who-ville vodoo treats us).

Well, we fell back a lot farther in the ACC than I would have liked. It basically came down to losing to UMd this year and not last. Both this year and last year we did everything possible to hand UMd the win. This year we were able to pull it off.

A loss to UNC would be a huge slide.

I was also wrong about wanting to be at least 1-1 vs UGA and ND. We will know this weekend if ND is the 2nd or 3rd worst team we faced this year.

At this point, we have to beat UGA.
