Sorry to rain on the parade, but the defense gave up 5.5 yards per play. That's much better than UNC, but still isn't great. In other words, it's never as good or as bad as it seems.

Did you include the stat-padding in garbage time? Throw that out and I think it's closer to 4.5ypp. Still not great, but better
