Faulkner to Southern Miss?

Don't let facts get in the way of self-loathing self-pity and doom prognostications!
You're right. We shouldn't even think about contingency plans, because the modern era of college football could never affect us.

Take it with a grain of salt but

Again, the OU OC is not an upgrade over Tech, IMHO.

We have a good OL with an incoming OL class that will be the best in school history. We should be set at all offensive skill positions. I just don't see it.

If he's interviewing, he's already decided he wants to leave for something else. It's not 4D chess to raise his Tech salary.

No doubt he wants to leave eventually, but interviewing and deciding that for this next year Tech is a better situation for him than what is available is certainly on the table.

It's an upgrade if he gets paid more in the short term and the results don't hurt his long term prospects compared to what they would be if he stayed here.

I completely agree that he could potentially be in a "name your price" scenario if we can hold things together for next year. It looks like we should have three seniors next year, along with several other underclassmen who have played significant snaps. We're in a similar position at WR, RB, and QB (again, ignoring potential losses to the portal). Couple this potential returning production with the easing of our schedule next year, and a lot of people have a big opportunity to become national household names.

His hire at OC here has often been lauded as one of the best assistant coach hires over the past several years, and CBF is seen by most as a future head coach. This is a credit to CBK and JBatt. We'll see if Cabrera and the donors really want to pony up the cash to keep this type of coach in-house.

If Faulkner goes to OU, I wonder if he takes Adamson, the QB out of Oklahoma who is committed to Tech, along with him.

My impression is that Buster will be around for at least one more year.

If UCF were smart, they would go after Buster. Seems like a better fit and opportunity than Southern Miss.
