were horrible. Terrible. Awful. San Jose St. officials or whoever was taking care of Spartan Stadium did a worse job getting the field ready than we did playing. BAD, BAD, BAD.

Our speed was slowed greatly.
The field was a great equalizer for our speed, because we are a faster team. Plus our unis looked awful after about 3 plays.

Anyway, I propose we, as fans, get an uprising and complain to the officials for the field. Or maybe Braine could do something good in 2003 by complaining.

It may not do any good, but it will show our disapproval and disenchantment for Spartan Stadium.

From the AJC:
Both teams struggled all game to maintain their footing on the muddy field of Spartan Stadium. Bowl officials did not cover the field during last weekend's heavy rains. They then covered the field Sunday, only to remove the cover Monday, allowing it to be drenched that evening.

Call out the moron(s) who decided to remove the cover on Monday. What were they thinking?

I'm glad I didn't go to the game after all. They should have changed the full name of the bowl to "Silicon Valley Football Classic: The 2002 Mud Bowl." The facility in general didn't look like anything special on TV. I don't think I'd have enjoyed the venue, much less watching the team perform so badly. Looks like I saved a total of 11 hours on the road today.

I wonder if any band members from either school slipped and planted their butts in the mud during their halftime performance.

Sure the field was bad. But football is susposed to be played on even these conditions. The field was just as bad for Fresno as it was us.

Don't forget that they said Bilbo caught a TD pass!
.
GT's white on white unis sure got muddy. They looked and played more like Dirt Dobblers than Yellow Jackets.

BOO

The field was terrible.. and was a definate advantage to FSU.. especially for their heavier offensive line..

the announcers were terrible as well.. I dont think I have ever heard worse... they did no prep work for the game... and almost seemed as if they were watching another game at times...

This Silicon Valley thing was just a total nightmare all the way around...

I thought the play by play was a disaster, but I enjoyed Coach Cooper's insights and commentary most of the time.

Absolutely, horrible place. I hope somebody makes a note to NEVER go there again. 10,000 in attendance? (my Mom said "10,000! I don't see why they bothered playing the game!) Junk heap stadium (what were those pillbox looking dugouts the team was in?), muddy, cow pasture "football field", idiot bowl officials (is somebody laundering money with this "scheme"?), lousy weather! Did we lose money? How are they making any? Nightmarish memories (somebody make it go away!!).

I hope the team had a fun trip, though. What with the trip to the arcade for burgers and shakes and all.

Arcade? Are you sure they didn't just sit in their hotel rooms and play PS2?

How many of you watched GEORGIA win the sUGAr bowl last night?
....Not too late to convert to a winning team!!

If I was going to convert, I would by no means pick a team who is bound to be a one year wonder. I would pick someone like Ohio State. Put me down for suicide before the mutts.

In my opinion i think the University of Georgia should be renamed North Florida State University (loc Athens Ga) WHile i dont feel they have quite reached FSU's style of "classless" football i firmly believe they will be there after 2-3 more years under MR. I believe he lets his team play very close to Bobby Bowdens style of football. I am all for a hard hitting smash mouth football game but when teams beggining acting like hooligans and criminoles etc. i loose respect for them. I love the Jackets but i am really hoping that coach MR prooves me wrong at least then i can have a little respect for UGA.
