For the first time in a very, very long time I have butterflies in my stomach just from thinking about this game. My stomach does a somersault every time I see the game roll across the bottom line on ESPN.

Obviously, the Virginia Tech game is potentially much bigger than this game but it has to start here. Before VT can mean as much as we want it to, we have to take care of business in Tallahassee.

I want this one badly.

I think that's called waking up every Saturday knowing your team can win.
Also, from my experience last weekend, it is really not good to watch a game without someone else who is a big fan or someone who can get into the game. All that energy goes inward and I nearly got an ulcer till we got enough points on the board to secure it.

Fortunately for me, I've got my wife here. We tend to balance each other out. Very rarely are we both angry when something goes wrong - one of us needs to keep cool to make sure the other doesn't start breaking furniture.

With that said, it's a good thing we were at the game and not near our own property at the end of the first half of the UNC game or we may no longer have a home to live in.

Heh, if I wasn't with my father at that time I would've thrown out some choice words that could make a marine cringe.

:laugher: I hear you.

I've been going to games since 2001 and had season's tickets since 2003. I've never heard the stadium that unified on believing that we were screwed by the referees. People in my section that never respond to ref calls and seldom make much noise at all were booing as loud as they could muster.

Fortunately we, unlike another school in this state, knew how to win in spite of absurd, mindless officiating. :)

How many times is too many times to keep watching the final drive of the FSU game last year? :laugher:

One of my biggest concerns for tomorrow: How can I "fight off the butterflies" all day up until 8pm without getting too drunk to watch our game? Sure would help to get a nice dose of UGA dropping to 3-3 to start the day.:fingersx:

I was glad to see this thread because I had just started getting worked up about how important this game is. Typical that I would get this way right as I was ready to try and go to sleep. But I think this game is HUGE.

This season is similar to a lot of Tech seasons. We have fought our way to a respectable record and beaten some pretty good opponents. We're still alive in the ACC title race. We've had issues but we've done okay.

But now we are headed out on a road trip to a very hostile and emotionaly charged environment. I think we are the better team overall, but I also think we have big weaknesses that could be exploited.

During my many years as a fan, this is the sort of game we lose. Sometimes, we lose it big.

Will this year be different? Can we win a tough road game while being ranked? Can our defense take a big step like our offense took between the Miami and UNC games? Will we stop 'em enough times to win? Can we stay in the ACC title race?

I know it's one game, but if we can do these things, it will mean something to me. It'll mean a lot. We win tomorrow night, and we're not lay-down Tech this season. If we win tomorrow night, I'll really feel like the program has taken a giant step.

We win tomorrow, and the butterflies come back and each bring two cousins and all their mommas for next weekend's game.

Excellent way of wording a lot of what's been going through my brain over the course of this long, long week. :)

I have a feeling these butterflies are here to stay for a while. If we win, then the VT game will get me even more, since it really could mean the season. I can't imagine how the players hold themselves together during these times. I can't wait to get to Tallahassee tomorrow afternoon and see the Doak, where the Jackets open a can 'o whoopass on them Criminoles! Go Jackets! I am out!

You know, maybe GT should have a criminal justice or criminology degree!! That would help the players to deal with the "criminoles" at Free Shoes U. and the convicts from the Coral Gables Detention Center each year!! :laugher:

How will I be passing the time from now until kickoff? Playing my guitar, watching other football games, eating, going ST, and drinking oktoberfest beer.

OMG Cajun...That is the EXACT thing I'm doing. :laugher:

I'm going to play 9 holes of golf to pass the time. When I get back, UT better be winning a football game.

However, I actually bet on UGA +1.....

....so idk.

I feel the same way as you re: this game. But, this is what I believe: last years game here destroyed some of the frustrations that the Tech football team and fans have had with FSU for the last 12 years! I believe this attitude will continue Saturday night!!!
