Firmly entrenched

Easy, YJ. Not yet. Win 2 of 3 against UNC, FSU, and VT and we should be 6-2 in conf.

Not historically. I was referring only to this year.

I won't argue that VT is not also first tier - as you indicate they are first tier until someone knocks them off - but I've seen enough of both teams thus far to assume that the pecking order has changed.

I can't wait to see VT play Miami. I'm dying to compare Miami's offense against us vs Miami's offense against Bud Foster's defense. That will tell me quite a bit about how to view the asswhoopin we just took.

Its just too early to decide what to think about what the Miami game really tells us about our team.

Well if you are going to get all persnickery about it, the ACC doesn't have a first tier; none of the teams are good enough to reach that level.

Uh, after watching FSU vs BYU, there is no way you can't say that they're in the top tier. I'd say that FSU and Miami are top tier and VT is 2nd tier.

Translation: "Will Muschamp is not our coach and he was my first choice. So I'm going to be a little bitch until we fire Paul Johnson and it looks like I know what I'm talking about."

After watching FSU vs. Jax St., there is no way you can say that FSU is above the 3rd tier.

The bottom line is that whoever wins Miami vs. VT next week is the team to beat. Hopefully VT wins, we beat VT and everybody else we play and we go to a BCS bowl.

If we get our act together, there's no reason we can't be the best team in the ACC and in the top 5 in the country.

I'm not sure we can afford another Conference Loss. I think we have to potentially win out in conference in order to get to the Championship Game

If we do that then we'll be controlling our destiny and putting less into having someone else controlling it for us or controlling it anymore than they already are

Did you not see us play Miami and Clemson?

Of course, I really do hope we get better, but we have no defense. We might as well like the ground and air be our defense. Maybe they can trip or push the players. Our offensive line sucks as well. Dwyer may be one of the best backs in the nation, but he can't do anything when he has nowhere to go.

An asswhooping of a top 10 (albeit overblown) team on the road at the least cancels out a weak performance against an FCS team.

Since "da U is back" and F$U almost beat them and trashed BYU, does this mean the ACC will start getting some respect? All the pundits have hammered home the point that it's absolutely necessary for these two teams to be at the top of the conference for it to be worth anything.

EDIT: Not that I really care all that much about the ACC's perception right now. We just got embarrassed and aren't likely to get much respect outside of the conference unless we win out, so people pumping up Miami doesn't exactly do much for me. I was actually cheering for Nebraska today, even knowing it would make a win for us over VT look less impressive.

Your tiers are completely arbitrary. It's hard to believe that a league with so much parity has such strong divisions.
