Well, it looks as if The Hive has died a premature death. Hopefully it will back back soon.

I will start posting here also. This seems to be a board where some serious discussion takes place. But in the meantime, I'm sure gonna miss BOAKE's BOTDS..

Not to start another controversy over Chan Gailey becoming our new coach, but I noticed that some folks are still upset over the hire. I for one want to say that I was hurt deeply when Big Bee left us for the siren song of Notre Done, only to have to quit five days later over you-know-what. I was so happy when Coach Mac took that team to Seattle and beat a good Sanford team and was hoping he would get the job. But as we all know, it did not work out.

I'm also a big Dallas Cowboys fan. I've been a fan since the days of Roger Staubach and Tom Landry. I was happy when Jerry Jones got rid of that bum, Barry Switzer. I do admit, however, I did not know much at all about Chan Gailey when became the Cowboys coach then. But I will say this: Chan Gailey did one heck of a job extending the Cowboys, with an old, worn-out team into the playoffs and an NFC East Championship. Look at Dallas since he left! Two straight losing seasons, with little hope for the future. Even Jerry Jones later admitted he made a terrible strategic mistake in letting him go.

Chan Gailey is now our coach. We need to give him our support! I think he will suprise lots of people and this program's best years are AHEAD of us. Not behind. We are getting a long-overdue stadium renovation/expansion, the excitement among Tech fans is growing, and even the local media is loath to admit that Tech as a power is here to stay.

Let's give Dave Braine the benefit of the doubt. Yes, there might be some growing pains between Coach Gailey and the players, but I just simply cannot conceive of another B*** L**** mistake coming up. For those who are making the comparison and continuing to complain about Braine hiring Chan Gailey over Mac McWhorter I only say this, "Get over it."

Anyway, enough rambling on here.....

WELCOME byte,

Everyone here hopes the hive is back up soon. It is the BEST source of GT news and a GT staple. However most people here appreciate having TWO boards. Sometimes you want to just sound off and stingtalk seems to be a pretty good forum to voice your opinion.

look foward to seeing your opinions and look at some of the previous posts if you want to weigh in on some good topics

With regards to CG most people over here are behind braine and think it was the best hire of all the candidates. But the ones that are concerned are very VOCAL.

In the end we will probably know where we stand after the Clem's son game. If we lose that one then it is going to be a LONG season.

OK, let me chime in. Since the Hive is down for who knows HOW long let's get the discussion going and keep it going here on Stingtalk. Here's some idea starters:

1/Countdown clock. Can somebody keep up with how many days til the season opens? AND how many days til Fall practice starts (when we find out when it DOES start)?

2/GT News. I don't know if we have folks like Goldtimer or GTZealot, but folks can post GT related news when they find them, right??

3/Funny Stuff. Topical Stuff. Again, if you see something that might be interesting and/or entertaining to us Stingtalkers, feel free to post!

4/FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL. Since THIS section of Stingtalk is the one I look at first and almost exclusively, let's pick up the football discussion! Predictions. What the nat'l magazines, sports outlets have to say. R

umours and innuendo from sports talk shows, other internet boards, etc. Updates on players, injuries, GT player sightings, etc. Analysis of team strengths, weaknesses. Analysis of OPPONENTS strengths, weaknesses.

5/Speaking engagements by GT sports figures like Chan Gailey, Wes Durham, Assistant Coaches, and other GT sports figures.

6/Recaps of appearances on local radio/TV by the above mentioned folks.

7/ETC ETC ETC

I know I'M going through withdrawals. Let's pull together just like we should for our Jackets!!!

Yes, we do have a diverse group of posters on Stingtalk. That is life, no two people are alike, and it would be dull if we were. However, most of the posters are loyal Jacket fans, I think!

Welcome all new posters. There are some good posters that keep us informed on the Hive, but we have some good ones here too. Law-bee has been my favorite, he provides a lot of good links for us.

About all I am good for is to stir the pot every now and then.

I've been posting here for a couple of weeks and it really has the feel that the Hive had in its first year or so. There is definitely a place for BOTH boards, but glad to see you here. Hope others follow!!

Welcome Byte... and a good post on your part... I think you will find this to be a great forum... lots of great opinions and insight... I have really enjoyed it here... not quite the information flow you find on the Hive, but you will find people who love Jacket football... along with some great perspectives... welcome to Stingtalk...

i may be a old fool but, i think the chan gailey hiring is going to reap great rewards for gt. but, i have to admit when we hired bl, the ncaa coach of the year i had the same feeling.my feeling is we can win around 8 games, less than that and we are back peddling.

I can honestly say I never liked BL. The feelings of revulsion he invoked when walking the sidelines of Tech probably can only be duplicated by the antichrist. And Id prefer he coach Tech instead of BL.
