I don't like hearing a freshman back is one of our best. They so often have trouble staying on the field because it takes them so long to get a handle on the various blocking assignments, so we end up with 'proven' upper classmen who can block but aren't as explosive.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think CPJ has suggested that Mills will be the starter. His comments seem to be complimentary in general as to his physical ability and football IQ. I think CPJ is impressed with his development as a freshman and expects good things from him in the future.

Yes, too good to redshirt, but not necessarily starter. That says loud and clear he's 2 on the depth chart. If he was 3, we'd probably hear more waffling and noise about saving his shirt.
