For those suggesting GT leave the ACC.....

Why couldn't Clemson, Georgia Tech, FSU, NCSU, Maryland, and even Wake Forest wait until the revenues have been disbursed for this year, and then withdraw from the league?

Why could not the same teams call for a vote on the pay-out plan and change it? How many votes are needed for this action?

If they wait for the disbursements, grab the money and run, the remaining teams could probably merge with the Big East or form another conference in the matter of a few weeks.

Even though, Virginia, North Carolina, and Duke dropped their games with us or any of the other schools, three games will not kill a 12 game season. I believe most of the games could be filled somewhere.

Shrewd minds can overcome the minority of North Carolina, Duke, and Virginia.

Ahso: But do we have 'shrewd' minds is the questions? I would have thought before any of this expansion stuff occured we had minds in place in this conference who were more together in the intelligence than most.

This whole debacle has got me thinking, was I wrong??

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">If they're (ultimately UNC & Duke, but UVA & NC St as well) holding everyone hostage in the expansion process, why would they relinquish control by changing the ACC by-laws. This whole ordeal is about control and they're blocking anything that reduces their stranglehold over the ACC.

I don't know exactly what it takes for changing the ACC by laws but I would guess it would be (at very least) the same 75% majority needed for expansion but it could very well be a unanimous vote for rule changes.

Hey Ms Tech Analysis...no, you were not wrong...100% on target...although we are Tech fans in the true sense of the word...boy, it sure is touch to be an ACC fan!

I think we "bungled" in our underestimation of dook and nc's arrogance. Apparently we were clueless that they would derail the effort. It's pretty ugly (and embarrassing) but we have a better perspective on our "neighbors" now. There's clearly no solidarity. As far as they're concerned what's best for the ACC is only what's best for them.

"I see how you are!"

ContactBuzz, I am not so sure NCSU, Maryland, and Wake Forest would be that thrilled with remaining in the ACC if they thought Tech, FSU, and Clemson were bolting to form a new conference.

All three of those schools are looking to better themselves in the football world.

It has been stated, the basketball and football coach at Wake Forest wanted expansion, NCSU with Amato does not seem to be averse to a 12 team league, and Maryland is probably like a free electron that could be flung to the next positive force exerted on it.

If Tech, Clemson, and FSU took the initiative, I feel sure others would bolt also.

You can't persuade me that a group of Tech, Clemson, FSU, Miami, Syracuse, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Maryland, and West Virginia could not attract some more teams.

I would think NCSU would immediately be interested, Wake Forest would want to talk with the new league.

It is not out of the question to see a little interest from Penn State and possibly South Carolina.

There are always a few of the lesser known teams willing to join, including Connecticutt, Rutgers, East Carolina, and Central Florida.

As previously stated, the dominos would begin to fall if Tech, Clemson, FSU, and Miami were to drop out of both leagues and start a new one.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">The idea of the pro-expansionists dropping out to form a new conference sounds great in theory but if the NC States, Wakes, and Marylands (teams that would bolt as a last result) were to vote on changing the ACC by-laws, they would more than likely try to make it more difficult to leave than reducing the penalties for withdrawal.

It appears that nothing short of selling our souls to the (Blue) Devil will get us out of the ACC.
