3-8, 6-4-1, 6-5, 5-6, & 2-8-1. How would y’all feel if Collins did that?
After that he had a bunch of 8-11 win seasons. Of course he had a great DC.

You mean Virginia State. Drives the locals crazy here when I call it that.
It should drive them crazy, isn't Va State an HBCU with different campus somewhere else?

Didn't some NBA player play there Charles Oakley?

I bleed white gold!!

With all due respect, Vippiesue before Beamer was totally insignificant in football He had that going for him while riding out the lack of talent & time it took to build Beamerball. The Jackets; however, have a long history of good to great teams before CGC took the reigns. GT always finds great players from the south & after coaching them up, they would keep the program competitive, especially in the relished underdog role. The 3O turned the program from the normal & did indeed set it back to an extent, but what we are witnessing now unfortunately, is mostly a coaching deficit in many aspects of the game. We have good players with talent. In short, our players aren't playing & I'm not seeing much or any significant progress in the results on the field. I'm sure most would say the same that have watched Tech for many decades.

No, we had a history, storied history long before Calvin. VIPISUE was nothing prior to Vick.
I wouldn’t call our last 55 years exactly storied. I think you are referring to Dodd and before. We do have the natty to hang our hat on and a few other New Year’s Day bowls.

In the last 40 years, 28 different coaches can lay claim to a national title. Of those, Bill McCartney is the only one who didn't have a winning record in his first three seasons. Many on this board would even argue he doesn't count since WE won the national title that year.

Other than Bill McCartney, only 2 other coaches didn't have double digit wins within their first 3 full years. Don James and Lavell Edwards. Both of which did have 9 win seasons before their first double digit win season though. In fact nearly every championship coach wins a title within the first 3 years, most are double digit wins within 2 years.

Beamer's success (without a national title) was the exception, not the rule.

Bill Dooley was decent at VT before Beamer but he left for Wake
