Freshmen Wideouts Will Play

I guess you played maybe, but man you are a half glass empty poster... Across all the free sites...

not always but I am just being real; I like the kids, as people but the reality is we are behind the rest of the league in this position....

I like our young OL pieces. I like our Young DL pieces. I like our AB's and potential at BB. Here we are on par or better than alot of the ACC. But at WR not so much.

I am concerned about LB and DB depth and DB at one starting position....

I hear you. My take is that we are basically young, but talented. I believe this team will be a pleasant surprise. I know that they worked their ass off getting ready. Go Jackets.

you pretty much nailed it

actually, we beat Auburn twice and lost to and beat Notre Dame while Gailey was coach; so thats 0.750

2003 Auburn 3 Georgia Tech 17
2005 Georgia Tech 23 Auburn 14
...
2006 Notre Dame 14 Georgia Tech 10
2007 Georgia Tech 33 Notre Dame 3

however it is easy to see that these type of comparisons dont really offer that much information unless you are fully informed. for example, the win against ND was against a ND team that went 3-9, while the loss the previous year was to a 10-3 team. so what does it tell you that we either beat or lost to ND?? not much, really, in the absence of other data

We got ööööed in 2006 by the refs in the ND game. I was right fuking there. I seen it. öööö off Quinn.

actually this is a testament to the fact the our WR unit is not so great....IMO. So I agree with the poor recruiting of this position in general to backfill losses. The WR unit is very pedestrian. Bottom 1/3 of ACC. So if the new kids are players; then they should bump right to the top.
How did you become so pessimistic? Did Jim Hart rub off on you a while back?

Agreed, but it's ultimately about wins. Gailey was 41-33 vs FBS in his 6 years at GT. Johnson is 35-37 vs FBS over the last 6 years....at more than double Gailey's salary. We are spending a lot of money for mediocre results.

I know, it sucks coming in first or tied for first 4 times in the first 7 years; and it really sucked when we went to the ACC championship game three times. That was terrible.Or having a better in-conference record over the first 6 years (58.3% vs. 64.6%), that was terrible as well.

But whatever. Johnson is a great coach, the best we've had here in a while. We should keep him until he doesn't want to coach anymore, barring a stretch of years like last year.

Correct. Nick Saban would have put up more than six points against Wake Forest with Calvin Johnson, Tashard Choice, and Reggie Ball. I am very, very confident of that. Gailey was a very poor gameday coach.
Gailey was a piss poor offensive coordinator/coach @ the Cowboys, Dolphins, GT

Johnson also beat UGA twice which Gailey never did, and never lost 58 - 7 to UGA or Va Tech
