Fridge as HC?

That ööööing double reverse on a short ööööing yardage it whatever that was in the 2006 ACCC game still pisses me off.

That and the pick 6 right before half against Fresno.

Now that I think about it, I have a lot of pissed off moments in my Tech fandom.

The one event that probably changed the fate of Tech football was what if O'leary had left for N.D a year earlier than Ralph? That way Ralph would have remained the HC. The offense would have stayed in place and recruiting might have stayed great with that wide open offense. Funny how the little things always seem to get in the way when it comes to Tech football.

The one event was in 1992 when we passed over the combination of Friedgen/O'Leary to hire Lewis.

Ugh! the one thing I remember about that hire was how Dooley insisted that Lewis would be a terrific coach at Tech! Help me remember, where was Ralph & George at that time?

I was glad to hear Ralph say that Tech people treated him great. He was part of one of the very best coaching staffs Tech ever had. I also think Chan was a real good coach. We've had some good coaches at Tech.
Chan would have been a better coach if we had hired him before he retired.

I know we have fond memories of him as OC, but his record at Maryland wasn't really that good. First three years won 10 games, then averaged 6 wins for the next 7 years.
And yet that remains the peak of Maryland football history

We couldn't afford him.

Not because of salary. Because of the cost of feeding him.
What player was it that talked about Fridge "eating healthy" at the salad bar and covering his salad with ham and bacon and ranch dressing.

2005 NC State home game (2005?) Is still the maddest I've ever been at a GT game, including the bogus PI against us at the end of the gagger game when Bobo was their QB.

All we had to do is QB sneak Reggie or hand it to PJ and we win. Instead, we throw the damn ball and throw a pick to lose. Yea, Calvin could have caught the damn ball, but there was an easier path. It was like Seattle not handing off the ball in the Superbowl.

I got to know Ralph when he was building his home at Reynolds Plantation. Later on he spoke at a Boy Scout fundraising banquet at my request and he was quite personable to a crowd that was heavy with UGA fans, who were impressed with him. Spoke with him at a couple of Macon TD meetings and he always remarked 'how special those years at Tech were'! I always felt GT treated Ralph shabbily at the Peach Bowl after he took the job at Maryland, his alma mater. He should have been a guest of honor in the President's Box, not sitting forlornly in a section of seats with no other fans around him.

What? Claiborne and Ross from '72 to 86' is easily the modern era peak. Jim Tatum in the 40s and 50s was 73-15-4 with a national championship.
