Edit to clarify from the Dook baord:

Edit: "Joe Alleva was just on the sports radio, and he said the top candidate was Paul Johnson. Alleva also said that most likely P. Johnson will end up at Georiga Tech, so they (Dook) are going to go from there and see who is the next on the list."

"Al Featherston (a reporter, author in Durham who covers Duke basketball) also just reported that Johnson would be headed to Ga. Tech."

If this is true, DRad would have to go down as the master of diversion.

A Paul Johnson?
A Bobby Johnson?
A loud sailor mouth, defensive specialist johnson?
or
A throw it all over the field, offensive genius johnson?

mm42 is on a roll.

Wow on the rumor. Pretty big get...

I have a feeling its going to be Hatcher. DRad wants to put a big stamp ont he program and if he gambles and wins on Hatcher he will have solidified his career as an AD. Paul Johnson in my opinion is the safest bet... but I'm not calling the shots.

Yeah.. I say Jimmie Johnson for head coach, and if he doesn't take it, then Calvin Johnson for coach (Although I dont think we can match Calvin's contract..:laugher:

I take a different idea of what Drad will do...I don't think Hatcher will get it, because he has been the overwhelming popular choice on the board's and also by Bark Madly...May be that Drad doesn't want to feel pressured into taking a candidate the AJC and fans have cried out for...Just an opinion...He wants to make his own decision..

PJ is definately 'safe'. It would be very difficult to second guess PJ (overachieved on W/L at Navy, academic restrictions, etc.).

Edsall would be 'safe' also.

Both would probably be expensive. Edsall could be a dadgum bidding war.

I'm for 500K on Hatch, with a 400K bonus for beating UGA, a 400K bonus for an ACCCG, and another 400K for a BCS bowl.

How about that?

If we pay 1 mill base for Muschamp or Fish we are dumb IMHO.

PJ is making 1 million plus at Navy. We could get Hatcher for much less that 500K. (at least to start). He is still unproven at this level. 1 mill for muschamp or Fish---ABSOLUTELY NOT.

HATCHER=AFFORDABLE UNPROVEN TALENT

Wow 400K bonus for beating UGA? That will never happen.

You know Chan got $0 for beating UGA, right?

If we are getting PJ, we are going to pay about this:

$700K base.
$500K for Radio/TV
$200K misc.

Incentives
$200K NC
$100K BCS bowl/ACC champ
$50K 9+ wins
$25K 8+ wins

Maybe:
$50K UGA win, $10,000 for assistants.

nobody is going to be coaching at GT for less than 1mil/year.

fridge makes 1.7mil

I think CH would be an interesting hire and agree it has the most upside but also the most risk.

Of course, he got $0...he NEVER beat them. Sorry, had to do it. I thought there was an incentive for Gailey and the assistants for beating UGA though.

I know I read that there was an incentive for the assistants, but then again I am sleep deprived.

I am well aware of the current salaries in college football. But unless Rad has a crystal ball, if you are taking a guy like Muschamp with no other offers, why do you need to pay him three times his current salary (a guess)? Would he not take it for 500K?

And for the life of me I don't understand why we wouldn't offer a humongous incentive to every coach for a UGA win based on what I read here. THAT ONE GAME is more important than the other 10 to some. More important than an ACC championship (and BCS bowl) to MOST.

Just for fun, Rad should put a line on the season ticket form for "UGA win bonus" to see how much the fans would pay for one. When you send in the form, you could commit a sum of money to the bonus if you choose. If GT wins, your credit card would be billed and the staff would get the money. I'm guessing $10 average minimum (*25,000 season ticket holders makes 250K estimate).

Maybe $400K is high, but the bonus for the entire crew should be $250K minimum.
