From the Dook board...

So what if DRad has offered the job to Hatcher, Johnson, and Muschamp, and is just waiting to see who bites first?

Just for fun, Rad should put a line on the season ticket form for "UGA win bonus" to see how much the fans would pay for one. When you send in the form, you could commit a sum of money to the bonus if you choose. If GT wins, your credit card would be billed and the staff would get the money. I'm guessing $10 average minimum (*25,000 season ticket holders makes 250K estimate).

Maybe $400K is high, but the bonus for the entire crew should be $250K minimum.

Fascinating idea. Not sure if it's doable, but I like the idea....Mike

I'd be a little surprised if GT season ticket holders wouldn't pay considerably more than $10 per ticket!

I'd personally pay $100 per ticket and I'm a tightwad.

If they raise ticket prices at all, there will be a million people belly aching about it and there are only like 36K (or is it 26k?) season tickets sold.

Not sure it can be done, but I like it!

Holy crap, dude - that is freakin' brilliant.

So when it is leaked that our fans are only willing to pay a $5K bonus to beat UGA, how's that going to look?

You don't really believe that do you JTS? Hell if each season ticket holder put up $10 it would be about 360k(i think, 36k holders right)

I am exaggerating, but I honestly believe that the number would be disappointing to most people. Look at how much people complained about the price increase on tickets for the PSL and that was to keep us from going bankrupt. I think 3-4 people out of 5 would put down zero. Also, remember that the number of season tickets sold does not equal the number of people buying season tickets and I don't think most buyers would base their contribution on a per ticket basis. The bottom line is that GT fans are a frugal bunch.

From a friend who has connections inside the Duke Athletics Dept:

When Paul Johnson heard about Duke's Strategic Initiative (basically, some changes in academics that will allow more exceptions in several
areas, including football) he made a query indicating he'd be interested in listening to a proposal "should you decide to change
coaching directions."

Yesterday, after the press conference announcing Ted Roof's dismissal, they called Johnson and Johnson indicated he was "deep in negotiations with Georgia Tech."

I know I read that there was an incentive for the assistants, but then again I am sleep deprived.

That's right. CCG himself never had an incentive, but I believe all the assistants were to get 50k if they beat UGA.

mm42, if you're source is correct, then DRad perhaps belongs at the CIA or NSA rather than GT. He certainly had all of us fooled.

I wouldn't be surprised if multiple people were 'deep in negotiations' with Tech.
