I didn't realize the extent of Bowden's coaching activity until last night. On several occassions, he was shown on TV at the other end of the field from the action. He's got a guy that follows behind him with a headset, but it's not on very much, and he's generally just watching the game. It seems obvious that he doesn't do much during the game.

In the fourth quarter when we took our biggest lead, he asked for the headset and starting talking. A few minutes later they show Fisher, and he's talking into the headphones looking annoyed. Cut back to Bowden and he's still on the headphones later. Then, Bowden is yelling at the field and at Amato twice. All of this happens during the fourth, when we finally stop FSU.

It seems like Bowden is not coaching, he's just weighing in when he feels like it. He's just watching the game but not into the game at all. Then he jumps in? That is a recipe for disaster, and explains to me why they can't put things together. They've got to have huge coaching conflicts over there.

To me, this is why the "coach in waiting" is such bull****. Fisher is probably getting undermined, but Bowden probably feels like he's being replaced before he's really replaced. Total cluster.

I think it was obvious which team was better coached last night.

Both team's offense was simply doing anything it wanted...yet FSU didn't go for it on 4th downs and opted for the punt and a field goal instead.

Considering how uninvolved Bobby is with everything, how much of a change will it be when he's gone? If he really doesn't do anything, why would his mere presence affect the outcome.
Here's an idea for 'em: give him a dummy headset, with someone on the other end just to talk to him. See how long it takes to figure out.

I don't think any of this is new...he did this when they were on top as well as far as I can remember. The difference is their talent was so much better than just about anyone else's that he could just turn them loose.
