FSU, LSU, USC and UF

The demise of FSU is so overstated. Jimbo Fisher had a metric ton of personal baggage in Tallahassee which made his decision for him. Tallahassee as a college town or geographic locale has nothing to worry about from any where else in the southeast.

Coach Bayou Bunny was never going to be the answer. Orgeron/Burrow:Chizik/Newton. Even so, outside of the UCLA loss their season isn't horrible. Same for Mullen. Both programs are feeling the heat this year of losing to a very good Kentucky team that is going to finish second behind UGA.

Yes, the demise of FSU is way overstated. There are a ton of FSU fans out there. They can recruit Florida, South Georgia and Georgia in general, and nationwide. Kids want to go there...lots of women, lots of academic choices, near the beach and warm...

FSU is the middle of nowhere, but then again, Gainesville and Baton Rouge aren't much better.

If I were FSU, I would demand playing GT every season. We are the closest ACC school for them geographically and playing in Atlanta every other season would help FSU recruiting - can't be good for recruiting to get BC, Wake, and Syracuse every season

The ACC needs to reorganize their Divisions:

Create a Tobacco Road Division and create an ACC "Open Division"

Realign like this: Tobacco Road Division
Duke
Wake
UNC
NC State
UVA
Va Tech
Syracuse

ACC Open Division:
GT
Clemson
FSU
Miami
Louisville
Pitt
BC

Clemson is our permanent cross-over Gm anyway, might as well play FSU every yr and have GF sold out every other year.

Maybe putting all the tobacco road mafia schools in one division will allow the Open Division to take FB seriously, or give incentive to the Commish's Office to help the others upgrade the profile of their FB Programs, better game times etc

UL and Miami go to the north. Unc and Duke to the south. But this is never going to happen.
The ACC and other conferences need to figure out fast that they need fans but they are stuck on squeezing every drop out of tv. Wrong, fans matter and yes a southern division would be more interesting.
However, Tech is an academic school first and likes their spot in the languishing Coastal.
If ND were to join, I love the pods idea.

Noter Dame (sic) will never join the ACC for full time FB, as long we are locked into a crap TV deal until 2035.

ND fans would go crazy if 1\3rd of their important Games ended up on the crappy ACCN and Fans in certain parts of the Country couldn't watch ND FB, unless they jumped thru hoops to stream the Game.

Let all the old ACC schools lump together, give us Clemson, and then have the Conference pay a Travel Adjustment to the colleges in the Open Division to put them on level ground with the Tobacco Road Division that has less travel costs.

Switch Louisville and Syracuse. Tobacco Road Division makes sense with the schools from Va, Ky, and NC - all Tobacco states. That puts the four Southern schools and three Northern schools together in the Open Division. No need for permanent crossovers in this arrangement. But, if you wanted to keep crossovers Clemson-N C State, Jackets-Duke, Va Tech-Pitt, Wake-Louisville, UVA-Syracuse, BC-The U and UNC-FSU make pretty good sense.

Competitive balance with the plan might be better switching Clemson and Syracuse. Tobacco Road would be schools in the original geographic footprint of the ACC and the Open would be expansion areas.

It didn’t have anything to do with a bias or hatred. It is factual. I have been around both Georgia and Florida fans more than I care to, and the only major difference is at least Florida has something to show for their arrogance, Georgia does not. My point was that most of the UF fans you will encounter are either arrogant, rednecks, or loudmouth Yankee transplants.
My comment was not directed at you - or anyone in particular. Sorry if it came across that way. it was a general thought that occurred to me after my OP.

South Carolina Cow College is clearly much more "tobacco road" than Syracuse. But nice try.

I wouid like to see the ACC jetison ND. Basketball and all. Let the Little Fourteen have them.
