FSU New Coach

I think the floor and ceiling are both higher under Norvell than they were with Taggart, who was just terrible.

Even if he ends up being rather average, like Fuente, that should at least get FSU back to being a top 15-20 program with the level of talent they can amass. Obviously their fan base is going to expect more over the long haul, and I'm skeptical that he can have them seriously competing for the division every year...unless the ACC moves Clemson out of their division.
I'm curious how long everyone sees Clemson as maintaining, more or less, the same position they've held in college football for the last 3-4 years? What are your expectations for how well and often Collins should compete with Clemson, who has far surpassed Georgia's accomplishments? If you expect us to, for example, start batting .500 against the mutts in 2-3 years, do you expect the same against our next-biggest rival, who has never choked away the national championship in their home state on the final play of the title game lmao?

Yeah, I doubt Clemson is quite this good for years and years, stuff goes in cycles but they could be in the middle of a Bama-type run.

They got a little lucky (they earned their success but a little luck doesn't hurt) by having 2 great, great QBs that were in their backyard that were not quite as high priorities for UGA. Not talking about normal good QB prospects but likely #1 NFL types.

They don't win there first NC without Watson, he was a difference maker. They had a great team last year but you really think they win with Kelly Bryant at QB? I doubt it. Just an aside, that shows that Dabo is a much smarter coach than Kirby: he figure out a way to bring his freshman QB along and make the switch over the established starter with less upside.

But they get Lawrence for another year and are closing in on the #1 class in the country. If they hit on another QB then there is on reason for their success to not continue.

Some FSU fans are already mad about Sims; doesn't matter where he goes.

They don't currently have a good class (by FSU standards) so if Norvell doesn't close well, this could be the shortest honeymoon ever.

Yeah, I think you are correct that ultimately their ceiling year to year will depend on their QB. There is zero reason for me to believe they are not on a BobbyBowden FSU type run of success overall.

Don't forget, UGAg also recruited Cam Newton....at TE
