Ga Dome WANTS an ACC regular season gm for '08!

Uh, this wouldn't be the first time you know. Everyone here and elsewhere told me and others to "just get over it, it's the new way of doing business." Likewise, I now agree. They don't care about anything but the money in the end. We should take the money and run.

I'll sell my Dome tickets for $500.00 and pay for my PSL. Woohoo.

The other advantage is that tailgating on Tech campus has to the best the worst in the country, outside of Columbia U. Even tailgating at the Dome MUST be better. Hehe.

you put more conditions on being a fan than pretty much anyone I've seen rw. Just saying.

C'mon, the Ga Dome

is not looking for the GT-UGa game. The Dome wants GT- Miss St or GT-Ole Miss or GT-Ala or Clem-UGa; those type of games. Perhaps an already scheduled future FSU/Notre Dame or Miami/Oklahoma.
They might go so far as to try to arrange a Tech-South Carolina or Georgia-Miami or Georgia-North Carolina or Auburn-North Carolina or Tennessee-Miami.
All the Atlanta Sports Council is looking for, right now, is one BIG regular season gm to draw a big Sept, early Oct weekend for Atlanta. The Peach Bowl is such a huge success that another weekend similar to it, a la the Ga-Fla gm in J'ville, would add to the Atl lustre.

It would be stupid for GT to play ugag at the Dome.

No way ugag would move their home game vs us to the Dome, and hope we are not that stupid.

Things along this line have been tried.

Remember UT playing UCLA in bb at the OMNI?

Anyone remember ugag playing one of their home games at Grant Field (that is correct, ugag played vs Texas at Grant Field. Part of a double header with GT).

The UT/UCLA did not have the desired impact, and neither will this proposed game.

What made college bb interesting to people downtown was a guy named Cremins.

This proposed game might have a one day impact, but again it will be up to GT to have the impact on downtown college FB. It will be done by winning. And that means not losing 4/5 games every season and losing to ugag.

I support playing in the dome under the following conditions:

1) We rejoin the SEC
2) The game is the SEC Championship

Other than that (and I guess the Chick-fil-a Bowl if it keeps us out of Boise), I want no part of it.

NO ONE HAS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT GT-UGAG GUYS!

Jeez,

I started this rant by mentioning that I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. I also am not surprised by the response thus far. If Tech is in as big of a financial hole as it first claimed, the move would certainly be discussed. That may be all that comes of it though.

Now, keep in mind I have NO inside information. Just pure speculation.

First off, i dont think UGA would be interested in another neutral site style game. Even if the series was still carried on as is but moved to the dome. I dont know a whole lot about scheduling but wouldnt that possibly leave them with only 5 games in athens sometime? I think this thing could be great for the ACC if we could get games like GT/Bama, VT/LSU, FSU/Bama, Clem/UGA. I have always liked the idea of having an ACC/SEC clash to open up the season, sort of like the ACC/Big 10 does in b-ball. I know that kind of thing would be nearly impossible due to the lower number of games per season but it would be really cool and make tons of money for both conferences.

I don't think it would be such a bad idea, IF we didn't have to give up a home game.

I am sure a GT-USCe game at the dome would be a sell out. Both teams would get money. If neither of us had to give up a home game. That would be a win-win.
