Makes sense. I guess I wasn't thinking when I said trap game. But if that's the case, no way should we lose because Duke is not the better team.

Didn't mean to jump all over you; a few folks have called it that. If your point is that they could beat us if we're not taking them 100% seriously, than I agree with you. It's just that there's no "trap."

We won't have a chance in hell on defense if we give thad lewis time. He is an accurate passer. We need to rush his progression. Seeing that their running game is practically non-existant makes a blitz heavy gameplan even more attractive. It's a no-brainer.

Tech is 117 in passing defense.....117..!!...

Where are you getting your stats from? We are 68 in pass defense. Not saying that we're world beaters on the defensive side, but theres kind of a difference between 68 and 117.

One thing our defense has been pretty good at is creating takeaways. I wouldn't be surprised to see this play a major part.

Look also at red zone play. Our defense has been better here also.

Duke is also 111th in sacks allowed this year. This, in my opinion, is the biggest fault with our defense. Our inability to get to quarterback allowed the receivers to have an extra 3-5 seconds. These boys have to step up.

I know people think we don't match up well because they're a great passing team, but if you look a little closer I feel like this game is more for the taking than most realize.
 
This really depends, I haven't watched Duke all season. Is Lewis a pocket passer or is he a pretty good passer on the move? Does Duke mainly throw to one receiver (like Bebe) or is it a pretty even split between them all?
 
This is Duke. Its for the ACC Coastal. We will not lose. Period.

I'm not worried. I don't care about the stats. I don't care how many yards they can throw for.

JN won't let us lose. JD won't let us lose. Bebe won't let us lose. PJ won't let us lose. DM won't let us lose.

Maybe he looked at passing offense? We are #116 in that category.

Passing yardage allowed we are #68, but in the more telling stat of passing efficiency defense we are #98. Horrible, just horrible.

We are the only team in the BCS top ten whose pass efficiency defense is ranked below #26.

This game is scary to me because other teams have insisted on running the ball 2/3 of time against us, when our run defense has done a great job of limiting them. They've basically taken the ball out of the hands of their own best chance to win.

Cutcliffe will not do that. He will pass, pass, pass all day and that is attacking our most vulnerable point.

Lewis is a good QB when he's not under pressure. He does not scramble and pick up receivers well. Duke uses a lot of screens and short passes to let him get rid of the ball on time. If we can get in his face we will have a much better chance of getting TOs. Also need to play tight on their WRs imo because they will use quick passes in most cases. Also watch out for the TE.
 
speaking of passing,

GT was very close to blowing out wf if we had hit one pass, and held on to a couple of others.

Total focus and nasty this weekend.

Shouldn't focus too much on pass defense ranking - it's usually an indicator of a team that is in the lead.

I'm not saying it's irrelevant because I believe Duke will have some success throwing the ball but our defense (Morgan) can get pressure and make plays when they need to.
