Someone needs to be accountable. I wonder how long it will take until we hear from the"it's ok to lose to UGA since it is so much harder to recruit at Tech" crowd. Or that the "academic requirements are so much tougher". Why don't we just cancel the series then?

So here's the question. If we win the ACCCG and go to the Orange Bowl, are you suggesting we fire Gailey? There's the rub IMO. If we were 7-5 I would agree with anyone who wanted to make a move, with a possible hesitation due to the recruiting class he's got coming in. But if he wins the league, how do you fire him then?

Of course if we lose 2 and end up 9-5, I would expect Rad to have a long talk with him after the season about his future.

Cmon Nate...time to chill and focus on the bigger stage and grab the first big bowl any GT football team has gone to since 1967. I am as hacked off as anyone, but we we also have a chance to win 11 games and go to the BCS....all of this on the best recruiting class in GT history if they all sign in February.
Slice it any way you want...we can be on top of the ACC this year.

Could we be on top of the MAC or WAC? Those leagues don't get an auto BCS game. Does the acc deserve one this year?

Doesn't matter pocket, we get one. Why are you ranting on this anyway? Are you embarrassed or something? The ACC has earned the BCS spot for it's performance over the years. There is a process for a league to lose it's bid if certain things happen. Let it go. And yes, we would win the MAC

bottom line....many people called Miami, FSU, and VT dynasty status programs...and we left them all behind us this year! I would rather be where we are now than where they are!

Just remember when Donnan lost to us 3 in a row they threw his butt out of town and Goff was very much on the hot seat (first two games vs Tech he lost) until he reeled off several wins in a row.

If Richt went 11-1 every year yet lost to Tech 5 straight times, he would be toast.

I am so pissed, upset, sad, depressed....all hell pass the Jack.

Did we improve, or did the rest of the competition get worse?

Great... complacency at its best. This is what builds winning programs. This is the type of Hive pussy mentality that the people who support our program fall back on all too much. I'm not saying its accepting mediocrity... but sheesh. What is it then? Do you truly believe this?

Very good question.

no....it is a stupid question...because we play in a competitive arena. Someone always wins and someone always loses. The object is to be better than your opponent.

In our conference this year 12 teams took the field...many of which have achieved "dynasty" status...and we have the best records amongst them and stand to win the ACC Championship Saturday.

Fact is:
Where will Texas be during the BCS?? HOME
Where will FSU be during the BCS?? HOME
Where will Miami be during the BCS?? HOME
Where will Virginia Tech be during the BCS?? HOME

Donnan was also fired because his program was out of control. Half his darn players were smoking pot and doing other drugs....Quincy Carter included....and Donnan played him anyway. There was A LOT of stuff being swept under the rug there.

Richt cleaned it up while keeping the same talent there that would go to UGA even if they had no head coach at all.

Embarrased? For the league, YES! Two years ago, we were hyping how this conference was superior to the sec. Yesterday gave the clear impression that the other league is simply physically and mentally tougher than the acc.

That can change, but until it does I hope for the sake of the acc and college football that automatic berths to Major Bowl games are done away with.

And yes, the BCS does have a process about changing qualifying policy for its games. I just hope that the new rule change won't be called the GT rule if we get by Wake freaking Forest next Saturday.

I want to go to a Major Bowl Game more than anyone. I do not want to back in though because of a contract written without the thought of Miami and Fsu both being awful in the same year.

If all the contracts were ripped up before Saturday, does anyone really think we would be playing Wake for the chance of going to the OB after losing in athens?

So hiveredtech, I guess the fact that there is not one ACC team out of 12 that is in the top 15 teams in the country is a moot point?

Like I said, are we really better this year than last year? The competition is SURELY down as the polls back this up. Last year we had one of the hardest schedules in the nation. This year we played 4 teams in Troy, Samford, Duke and UNC which should be as close to gauranteed wins as possible. NCST and Miami fired their coaches over their terrible seasons. UVA was rebuilding. Then you have VT and Maryland. Both solid wins over pretty good teams.

So are we better or is the competition worse. Its a fair question. Why are you running from it?

I am not running from it...you are not listening.

My point is that it is a see-saw. Someone is always up and someone is always down.

Is the ACC as strong this year as last year? I do not think so from a talent perspective and the NFL draft proves this. However, this years team does not have to play last years Boston College team or Virginia Tech team. They lost people and we lost people....we all reload, train, practice, and play and compete 2006 vs. 2006. Our job is to outplay our opponents and we did that 9 out of 12 games and 7 out of 8 in conference.

We played a schedule that included a non-conference game against a Top 10 Notre Dame team and lost 14-10. We certainly did not stack our schedule. We also beat a 10-2 Virginia Tech team that is ranked #14.....and would be Top 10 if we did not beat them.

I like the position our program is in, particularly if we win Saturday and hold on to the recruits we are supposed to sign in February.

Spring will be the beginning of a new era...one where we find our new QB, enter in talented new freshman, continue building on coaching staff continuity, etc. etc. I like the position we are in a heckuva alot better than Miami, FSU, Virginia, etc. I think only Clemson and VT continue to be in as good of a position as we are.
