Game Plan for VT?

do like we always do, get a field goal and ask Tenuta to hold em.

Run the ball heavily in the first half. Mix in some QB draws with Nesbitt and some plays out of the direct-snap set to Dwyer (run Evans across and run the spread-option like we did with Choice and Grant.)

To keep them from stacking the box, mix in some quick outs in a 4WR or 5WR set. Throw a healthy dose of screen-passes in there as well.
If you feel like testing them deep, wait until a 2nd and short and run the play-action.

Basically, do your best to keep them off the field to offset our usual poor 1st-half performance. If they play Glennon, tell the LBs to hit the crap out of him. The guy is easily rattled. If they play Taylor, tell the LBs that aren't blitzing to play patient and keep him contained.

Kill Glennon. Chuck and duck on offense. Don't even attempt to field punts, like we did 2 years ago.

Don't forget to come by section 113 concession stand for those hot dogs!!!

Much like last year, I think we have to beat them with good special teams play, and field position.

Moreso than any other game thus far --we need some big plays from our defense --and the earlier the better. We need a pick in VT territory --a fumble recovery --a snap over the head of their punter --anything that could shorten the field for our offense and give us a quick score to put us on top.

If our defense can provide 7-10 points --directly or indirectly-- I feel pretty good about our chances.

Check out offensive category stats:

Rushing O: .....GT-13, VT 96
Passing O: .....GT- 107, VT 102
Total O: ........GT- 58, VT 112
Scoring O: .....GT 55, VT 64

I have to admit that I had no idea VT's numbers were that poor. Definitely --our defense can win us a low scoring game.
